land or house

What's more important to you....getting the 'perfect' house with very little land, or a tolerable house with 5-10 acres....?

Definately the land. If you have several acres, you can always build a nice house plus have a garden, orachard or whatever else. Room for expansion!

i'm part of the rural folk at heart, but if it came down
to a decision today, i'd take the ''perfect'' house.
chances are, i'd never actually get around to using
the land because i would spend more to make the tolerable
house into the ''perfect'' house...

That all depends on the amount of work you are planning and willing to do. If you think you'll need the land for expansion, then obviously take that. It's all a preference. Me, I'd take the perfect house as long as there was room for a fenced in backyard.

Right now we have a not perfect house on 18 acres, and we want more land with smaller house, hopefully atleast 40 acres would be ncie

We have a decent house with some land. With 3 children-I prefer them to have the room to run, so I'd pick the land and build or add on.

Getting a happy balance. I don't need acres of land, a descent amount would do. And the house should have everything I need in a house.

I would go for the tolerable house with the land. You can always fix the house later. The land gives you so much more sustainability and offers more opportunity for growth. Land is a future.
