 :bs:  It's just the xtian "fish" symbol and has nothing to do with "being smart" since someone smarter than a xtian probably told the xtians what this meant. {flip the 1st 2 from right to left put the + sign in between and connect it to the 2nd 2 you get a fish figure, flip the 1st 3 same as above and connect to 2nd 3 [without + ] you get 8 then flip 7 the same way and connect to 2nd 7 [no +] you get a triangle}
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

That was fun! I think it does have something to do with being smart, because it takes time to think outside the box and find the visual equation instead of the mathematical one.

Perhaps so; I have a generally unrealistic tendency to assume most people are as "smart" as any other until they demonstrate otherwise.

Valid point. I am quite opposite and  tend to assume stupidity until proven otherwise. That way, there is much less disappointment when proven right!

While I can understand the underlying cynicism of such an assumption, (and the pragmatic approach), consider this; quite a few cannot conceive of anyone more knowledgeable than they are while many others seem to easily imagine that they are more knowledgeable than teh average Joe.
This is more of an observation of an all too human foible rather than a reflection in the mirror.

That was a mind boggler, I greatly appreciate the explanation at the bottom. :)

Yes, I am quite the cynic. I have to say though, I am quick to admit when someone is more knowledgeable than me. While I am quite book smart, or learn rather quickly, I am under no illusion that I am world nor street smart. I also know that my knowledge is limited and love to learn so I enjoy being with those smarter than myself. Of course, my comparisons are limited to those I am around most every day, and I realize that benchmark is different with every person. You make an interesting point though. I can see how most people view themselves as relatively above the average.

 What if this was the only question on the exam paper to pass your English Exam. Would you pass? Here is the question:

What nine letter word in the English language is still a word when eight letters are removed one by one?

"ll give the answer in couple days...I want to see what you say first :dontknow:
