the best way to lose weight is simply to exercise and reduce your intake.  its hard but that will do it.

LARGE BREAKFAST
medium sized lunch
small dinner

exercise 30 min a day, incorporate cardio and strength training

it sounds simple, but harder to keep up with as you get through.  Its all about a long-term lifestyle adjustments!

I've been a nutrition coach before and the simplest suggestion is water. Drink water not sugary or diet drinks (your body still recognizes and responds to artificial sweeteners as if they are sugar). A full glass of water can help hold off hunger, flush out your system and thus water weight and keep you hydrated with drinking your calories.
Oh and forget the 8 glasses a day bologna. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces per day or until your pee is clear.

Great suggestions from all of the previous members!  I have tried all kinds of diets: the five day ice cream diet, the seven day soup diet, the potatoe diet, the hot dog diet, etc.  All were good for meeting an intial small weight-loss goal.  The mayo-clinic diet was great for losing twenty pounds in two weeks but depletion of carbohydrates tended to mess with my personality and the weight would return within two to three weeks.  One of the previous members offered a great suggestion that works well at taking/keeping weight off which was a combination of calorie reduction and excercise.  The best shape that I got in to in my life came fro following Bill Phillip's Body For life Plan(get the book).

I don't believe in any of those crash diets, or juicing or anything like that.
All I do is eat healthy 80% of the time, count my calories, and work out at least 4x a week for 45 minutes to an hour.
I've lost 12.5 pounds since January first...and it may be coming off slowly, but it's coming off in a healthy way and it's less likely that I'll gain it back (at least quickly).
It's a slow process, and I'll admit that I have days where I was to give up and eat junk because I feel like I'm not seeing results...but I stick to it and when I see that smaller number on the scale, or see that I can run further or lift more weight...I feel great about myself!
I'm not a runner, and I just finished a 5k yesterday in 33 minutes. For a runner, that's not great, but for me, that's incredible! All because I'm sticking to it and not giving up.

Diet's are tuff to do, the main solution is to find which diets works for you. Find some type of excercise that you like to do and stick with it. Eating lot's of fruits and veggie's work too. Good luck!

I lost 5 pounds in a month just by lowering my calorie intake to 1500 calories a day. Eat well made your portions reasonable leave out sweets, sodas, and drink lots of water and eat lots of vegetables. Eat well don't do anything drastic. Good luck! 8)

I recently heard more on the water part.  64 ounces per day minimum plus an additional 8 ounces for every 25 lbs you are overweight.
