How could anyone not have a pet

Ok this is my first topic LoL and i do wonder how anyone can live without a pet. I have a dog roscoe I named him roscoe because he is onnery and i just could not imagine not having him to make me laugh or mad LoL what do you think about this topic??

It's good that you're jumping right in and I see that you're new however, this is more of an "off-topic" subject than a "Support" one, (although pets can provide such emotional support as you allude to).

I love dogs but I don't have one.  I'd rather be able to pack up and go someplace for a few days on a moments notice without having to worry about what to do with Fido.

I can tell you exactly why I don't have a per, NO ROOM, NO MONEY, NO PATIENTS, NO TIME pets need to be loved and right now in my life I am always on the go, that would be animal cruelty on my part.....so for right now I will have to do without

They are messy and stinky as well. I live alone, if I want to go on a trip I would have to pay someone to watch the animal. If I take it with me, I am usually limited with where I can go and what I can do. Also currently I live in an apartment, and the management will impose an additional $300 pet deposit plus another $50 a month in rent plus an extra $150 cleaning fee when I move out.

I have always had a pet of one kind or another, would be lost without one. My husband on the other had doesn't want to be bothered with them.

i have a lab and he's like a baby he'll be 9yrs soon now i'm worried about how he'll do in older years he is fine but does get tired more easily but yes love having pets wish i could have more

Yeah I know about that extra charge when living in an apartment....my complex charges 200 a year just to have them and 150 for clean up when you move out. It's just not worth the extra cost

I would love not to have a pet. We have a cat and he's fine most of the time....except when he pees in the kids' bathroom and digs up my garden. Not a fan of the smell of the litter box either. I grew up on a farm and had my fair share of animals. The kids like to play with him though, so I guess its ok.

Pets are great companions but if you can't afford them completely you shouldn't have one.  (It's a lot more than just buying them food and giving them water and cleaning up after them.  Think of hospital bills, shots, etc.) Don't get me wrong I love animals and when I'm back in a place of my own alone I will be buying a dog as long as I can do the above mentioned in parentheses.  As an example there's a cat -coco- and a dog-peaches- with my mom and she can't even afford the bills with a normal full time job.  Also, the attachment problems because we all get close to animals and then they don't live that long.  That's the only problem I'd have with having my own dog other then the aforementioned.

Pets become part of the family. If I was able to have one I would. A dog that is but. Where I live at dogs/cats are not allowed.

Can you come over and help me with my 9 cats and 2 kittens then. There is such a thing as having too many.  I have 2 pure bred Persian kittens for sale soon if anybody is interested. Let me know pictures and videos will be available soon.

lol I know some people would love pets, but I personally am not an animal person.  Taking care of children is enough in my opinion. LOL (Which I do not have, of course)
