Is thie World Going to End This December?

The Mayan calendar runs out December 2012 and there is speculation that the world is going to end or change dramatically.  What are your thoughts?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the Mayan calendar doesn't run out, the most recent long-count cycle ends on winter solstice and a new long-count cycle begins without interruption.  Even the Gregorian and Chinese calendars don't "end"; they just move into a new cycle of months. Second thought; the Mayan calendar hasn't been in usage lately, (then again, neither have Sumarian or Aegyptian calendars).  Is that significant?

My Windows calendar goes well past 2012. Proof enough for me we'll survive past 2012. Has Bill Gates ever been wrong?

I hope not... I still have a lot of travelling I want to do.  But, if it does end, at least we'll all go together and we'll be able to keep each other company in the next phase of our souls' journey.

I believe the world has already been changing drastically, just look around....all working to be the end of the times, read the Bible instead of a calender you might learn alot more...just saying

No. There are more pressing issues to consider than thinking about the world ending for some unknown reason. It would be more pertinent to consider what humans are doing to the earth and the impact we have. If the world does happen to end, it will be because of us, and it will not occur in December of this year.

I don't know when the world will end but we should be spiritually ready for Christ's return to this earth.

Conversely, read almost anything _other_ than the 'bible' and you'll learn more.  Unless you're xtian.

I'm more worried about random neighborhood killings, drunk and/or hit and run drivers than the end of the world 2012 prediction.

The Mayan Calender doesn't count leap years so technically it has already ended and somebody forgot to tell us- :0  But beyond that, when Jesus left to get our homes ready he said that even he didn't no the presise time, so I doubt that the Mayans had been clued in- but we are to be ever watchful, and live each day as if it may be our last, because we are not promised tomorrow.
