I have had similar situations when I have used this service and sometimes the gps service where its taken me way out of the way.

They always take me the long way, I always end up finding a alternative.

I usually run off maps from two or three different sources and then try to figure out the most direct route. I have even been directed to a non-existent location using some map directions.

I have no need for mapquest any more since I have a gps and have had it for a while now.  With most people having a gps I am a little surprised that the site is still up and running.

I have used it, but I always compare the results to the AAA Trip Router to get a better idea of the directions

Mapquest likes to tell people my house is on the opposite side of the street. It has gotten many people confused. I still use it but I don't put my full trust in the results

I much prefer my GPS to anything! If I start out and kinda sorta know partially which way to go, I can turn against the GPS directions and get rerouted. I update my maps on GPS regularly, but I don't know how often mapquest updates...I suspect you got an unupdated route...I sympathise..that would be a pain :BangHead:
