this is why I love the fact that I live about 2 miles from my job.  My wife's job is about 3 blocks away from the house.  I bike to work most of the year, except winter. She prefers to drive but at least the cost isn't bad since she doesn't use much fuel.  Hope we can keep that situation going good for a while, especially if I buy the electric or hybrid vehicle I am planning to get before summer.

Possibly ... would $10/gallon gas be something to get worked up about?
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

If gas prices got up to $10 a gallon I think I would have to go out and buy me a horse.  But then again there is things to buy for the horse like it's feed, grooming supplies, and horse shoes.  So It's almost like a catch 22 situtation.  What gets me is some states have a cap on the price of gas so why don't all the states just do it so the consumer doesn't go broke just trying to make sure they can get to work to pay their bills.

True, horses can be more expensive than childcare costs.  Who knows, someday we may all have to resort to solar-powered mopeds or, a new technology as yet undeveloped.

That's actually a cap on excise taxes once the price at the pump hits $3/gallon:

Now you gas prices are way to damn expensive when your happy to be paying $4.06 for premium gas, I mean I still remember when people would line up around the block for $2.50 prices. What is this world coming to? :BangHead:

Nope. It's not going to happen anyway.

That's what some people initially believed about $2.00/gallon gas, (until it hit that level), then $3/gallon and then $4.  So, why not $5, $7 or $10 per/gallon eventually?

Now you know that the religious adherents who believe in such superstitious intercessory magic are just going to mumble vague nonsense about "god's will" and such if challenged to actually "pray" for lower gas prices, (for instance, the challenge could be that the prayer consist of lowering gas prices to $2.50 by 3 days following Labor Day ... if gas prices remain higher than $2.50/gallon for regular unleaded, the 'prayers' will have demonstrably failed).  Any takers on such a challenge?

The thing is people are too dumb to even know what and who caused the extreme high gas prices. I'd bet people would blame the Government right away. LOL

Maybe so however, at least a few are blaming the oil companies who are racking-in record profits in the multiple billions, (and oil futures speculators, who largely drive the commodity prices for oil).

And those few would be mostly wrong.  Personally I don't enjoy the idea of speculators in oil at the moment (considering it is always going to be a high demand item in the near future), but it is a gamble the speculators are making and it does have risks.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.
