How do you deal with stress?

 :'( very stressed out there.. Any good ideas to deal with it? Somethings going on is my father in-law who we care for is dieing of cancer. dr says a few weeks, hubby breaking down over it. Lost my health insurance and i have heart failure. :dontknow:

I personally clean or work in the yard nothing like playing in the dirt and chopping down  weeds ect to help. For me the busier I am doing things the less I think about what is stressing me out.

Like "Crazyzoo" I tend to do manual work until I am so tired that my mind cannot think. The other way I deal with stress is to write every thought down in a book. Amazing how things start to make sense once it's written down.

you could find a nice relaxing spa or hot tub. normally I would say go for a run or go off on a punching bag but i figured with heart failure you probably do not want stress out your body.

i m sorry and i hope everything works out for u . i usually watch a good comedy movie when i'm stressed out or if your are a religious person yoou can pray to . that really helps a lot. wish u all the best

First of all--am very sorry for all you are going through.  That is a lot of stress to deal with.

Physical activity helps.  And so does prayer.  Another suggestion--do you do any kind of craft or hobby work?  I knit.  It's a great stress-buster for me; I do a lot of it these days.  Something that can keep your hands busy and occupy your mind might be of some help.

i veg out and chill but below are some better techniques


Self help for treating stress
Exercise - exercise has been proven to have a beneficial effect on a person's mental and physical state. For many people exercise is an extremely effective stress buster.
Division of labor - try to delegate your responsibilities at work, or share them. If you make yourself indispensable the likelihood of your feeling highly stressed is significantly greater.
Assertiveness - don't say yes to everything. If you can't do something well, or if something is not your responsibility, try to seek ways of not agreeing to do them.
Alcohol and drugs - alcohol and drugs will not help you manage your stress better. Either stop consuming them completely, or cut down.
Caffeine - if your consumption of coffee and other drinks which contain caffeine is high, cut down.

Nutrition - eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Make sure you have a healthy and balanced diet.

Time - make sure you set aside some time each day just for yourself. Use that time to organize your life, relax, and pursue your own interests.
Breathing - there are some effective breathing techniques which will slow down your system and help you relax.
Talk - talk to you family, friends, work colleagues and your boss. Express your thoughts and worries.
Seek professional help - if the stress is affecting the way you function; go and see your doctor. Heightened stress for prolonged periods can be bad for your physical and mental health.
Relaxation techniques - mediation, massage, or yoga have been known to greatly help people with stress.

That would highly ineffective wishful-thinking.
