the economy was terrible when Obama went to office, but I think what will ruin the election for him is how he handled gulf oil spill....he was on vacation, stayed on his vacation, and didnt go visit the area for a month.  it was the worst disaster this country has seen in decades and he continues on as if nothing happened.  the southern states were put in a bad predicament..they lost their livelyhoods and the total environmental impklications won't be truly known for generations.   the president dropped the ball on this one    he'll be lucky to receive just one vote from the south

Well, I'd thought it was electoral votes for each state are calcualted by the formula: EV=Ps/(Pn/436)+2, where Ps is the population of the state and Pn is the population of the nation. The number 436 is number of seats in the House of Representatives plus one for the District of Columbia. The equation for each state is rounded to the nearest whole number then adjusted for the statistical anamoly when the resulting sum does not equal 538.

Then again, it could be backroom influences on supreme court judges too.
