Prepaid debit card offers
« on: March 14, 2012, 05:59:51 am »
Has anyone done any of those?

I've been looking into getting one, especially when I heard that these type of cards have routing and account numbers that can be used for direct deposit. I'm considering putting all of my earnings from different sites onto a prepaid debit, because I'm very wary of giving my primary bank's account information online to any site.

I figured since I want one I might as well sign up through here so FC gets the commission and I get the bump in my account balance. I was curious if anyone had done a prepaid debit card offer on this site, because there is quite the variety of them that come and go from time to time. The two that I see are active now are:

Account Now Gold $1.75
RushCard $2.00

Anyone have either one of these? If so, are you happy with their fees and customer service?

Thanks

i use a prepaid debit card.  it's not one of those, but they all work generally the same. the one i have, i've used for years.  i actually get my paychecks at work deposited on it.  just make sure that you read the fine print, when you read about each card, to make sure you know what the different fees will be.  each card has a different set of fees for atm withdrawls, purchases, etc.  the one i use has very low fees and hardly any fees really.  but some cards are outrageous.  so choose wisely.  the right one can be simple and great to use though.

I didn't realize prepaid debit cards have fees.  I wouldn't have thought that, but it doesn't surprise me.  If I ever decide to get one, I will look into those fees.  Thanks for the tip.

I use a pre-paid debit card to collect the $20 for referrals they give me and sure they have lots of exorbitant fees, but I just don't do the transactions they charge the fees for. I just use it as an eWallet to collect money, then once a month or so I go to my bank teller and ask her to transfer the money to my normal bank account for which they charge me $1.00 and go back to collecting money again. I can transfer up to $4,000 at a time this way.

Yea I saw FC had those 2 prepaid visa card offers and was thinking of doing them, but Im not sure because even tho they are Free/No cc needed, they have tons of fees for all kinds of stuff.

I THINK getting the card is free (and you get credit on FC) , but once you put money on it, thats when it starts charging fees.. so basicly if you order it and never put money on it (activate it) then its free, but if you actually use it its NOT free at all..
Its probably only worth it if your putting a decent ammount on it.. if your only putting say 25-30   on it a month, then most of that will be taken in fees! (card fee, monthly fees, transaction fees, ect.)

Thanks for another great tip oldbuddy! :)

So now the thing to do is check what the transfer fees are for these cards to determine if it is worth signing up for them.

Another plus I would think for using a prepaid card would be for online purchases instead of a debit or credit card connected to ones bank account..depending on fees of course.
