Are you talking about only covering the head with a hijab or are you referring to the full face veil niqaab? There is NO law, that I am aware of anyway, that says a head scarf is "an act of terror", where did you get this info from? I know many states here, and some countries in Europe, do not allow the wearing of full face coverings in photo ID's or any place/situation that is dangerous to be wearing them. How many males have impersonated females by using this clothing and have committed crimes? The answer: a lot. If there really is a law about the head scarf, I would be interested in knowing about it and you could post it here. Welcome to the Forums side of FC! ;)

i think it has more to do with individual people and their perceptions to be honest, i was always taught that people fear what they don't understand  :peace: but that i should be tolerant and get to know before i make judgments

Not referring to the legality, only that when a Nun is observed in public she is respected and honored but the Muslim lady is often viewed as going against the "American" way.

While the "respected and honored" part of observing catholic nuns in public is an entirely subjective one, (doesn't apply to all observers), it isn't that veiled muslims are often viewed as going against the American way per se.  There are some who recall that it was (unveiled) Saudi muslims who were responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks and may generally view all muslims as guilty by association.  Similarly, if some American serial killer were tried and testified that they killed 'infidels' due to their xtian beliefs, other xtians should be held as guilty by association.  If they aren't, that merely emphasizes the inherent hypocrisy of religious beliefs in general.  Those who hold them are free to do so, (in America); just as those who rationally oppose such are as free to do so.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Good point, jd.  A photo ID is considered a "legal document" and obscuring one's face would make legal identification difficult.  As it is a choice to obtain a photo ID, such a requirement does not infringe upon any religious strictures concerning obscuring the face.

I'm not aware of any specific laws, (which doesn't mean there aren't any), pertaining to that.  There have been debates in the Legislatures of several different U.S. states regarding driver license and identification photographs. In Oklahoma and Minnesota, legislation has been introduced which would require a full photo with no headcovering, and no exception for religious clothing of any kind.

i think a lot of people just misinterpret the hijab or the scarf because of the 9 11 terrorism. but i think people shouldnt judge a whole country or a whole community based on just a group of people. its sad but thats usually the case

Because one has a choice and the other does not.  End of argument.

it is always a few who spoil the whole thing..muslims in general are good, family people, but when someone fanatically tries to impose their veiws on to others, bad things happen.  it works with any group or ethnicity.  where I live, on the news, there is always shootings and murders being committed and its 90% of the time it is african american killing african americans, yet we all have to realize that not all black citizens are bad.   muslim women who wear their face garbs aren't all bad either, and thus i've never heard of any laws against face garbs, however if a white man were to walk into a bank with his face covered, he is probably going to rob the place
