I am not sure I am qualified to answer this, considering I have laryngitis now for lets see, almost three weeks. Can't talk above a whisper. However, there are things that can help that I think at least work in normal people, unlike myself.
There is the old standby of hot fluids. Hot tea, hot soup, hot..oatmeal?(lol) Either way, heat helps clear up the sniffles. A long hot shower is always nice, but it usually only works while your -in- the shower. Still, its nice. I have been meaning to get a humidifier, which may help put some of the moisture back in the air and help you breathe a bit easier. Good ol fruits and veggies will at least make you feel like you are doing something right with your body, even if it doesn't have an immediate effect. Exercise helps, just do it moderately. If you are too sore and achy, limit it to just stretching. Keeping things as clean as possible helps, but if you think that your environment is a problem, it may be worth investing in an air cleaner. The good ones seem to have testimonials saying that the people who use it get sick less. I can't afford it yet myself, but when I get the money I'm getting one of those. One of the earlier posts mention wearing masks. Its a pretty good idea unless you are sneezing and coughing a lot, because the mask will wear out pretty quickly and become useless. (Personal experience there). The last thing I can think of is to cut your stress level as much as possible. Stress makes the body more vulnerable to pretty much everything.
