I think he was a great quarterback for the Colts, and I'm sad to see him leave. He's helped them win the Superbowl, but I guess it's time for a new qb to step up.

i never thought peyton would leave the colts in this fashion, i can understand not wanting to pay him the 28 million but its unbelievable that they released him, definitely a sad day for me :(

I think it's okay, I am just wondering witch team he is going to go to because the quarter back that is know Payton well take over as the starter.

I think he's made enough money playing football, way more than the average person makes in a lifetime.  He'll be just fine!
I think all professional athletes are so overpaid!
It's too bad that scientists, doctors, teachers, etc.. aren't paid more when they have such a huge impact on society and help so many people.

It's a shame he has to leave the Colts this way--he is one of  the best QB's to ever play the game. That being said, I think it is time he considers retirement because of his health problems. It is not worth risking permanent injury or paralysis to play the game. It is a sad parting but I am sure he has all kinds of opportunities outside of playing football. He is already a legend; I would hate to see him go down the road as Brett Favre did.

The press conference was so sad, you could tell he really loved Indy and is torn about about leaving. I can understand the Colt's side of it though. He is an older, injured, high-paid quarterback with an unknown future. It really doesn't make much business sense to keep him on. And after their disastrous last season, they have the ability the draft a young qb a mold him into what they need. I think Peyton will be in the NFL for a few more years and will find new success wherever he ends up. My husband is hoping for the Eagles (unlikely) or Vikings (could happen). It will definitely be a very interesting season next year!

Maybe Houston.  It's a shame the Colts had to let him go but there was no way they could pay out 28 million dollars not even knowing if he could play another down.  It's too bad there couldn't be a compromise on the salary.

I hope Peyton ends up in the AFC East, preferably the Jets.  I want the drama and the competition as a Pats fan.  Bring it on so we can smack him down.

Peyton Manning was a very good quarterback even though I am a New England fan myself. He has so many injuries he really should retire. Not only has his performance has gotten lack luster he is in danger of a serious life changing injury that may cause long lasting damage.

Someone else said it best upthread; Peyton Manning has class.  That is one of the biggest reasons I admire him and wish him the best.  I am pretty sure that he'll move on and do well.  I think it's a shame he had to leave the Colts this way, but personally--I think he'll rise above it and do just fine.
