smart phone vs reg phone
« on: February 22, 2012, 03:48:21 am »
I am in need of a new cell phone.  Mine is just about to konk out.  I hate to pay the extra service for the smart phone but would LOVE to have one.  Is it really worth the extra $30 a month?  Any one ?

If you can afford it, a smartphone is very nice to have. I like many of the the apps..very useful.

It all depends upon your own personal budget and what you really need. The smartphone is a nice bonus with all the extra bells and whistles. If you want to save money, then stick with the regular phone that provide you just the basics. I myself carry a regular phone.

Smart Phones are handy if you have a lot of contacts or help with business. I use mine to play games mostly

If you need to be in contact with people constantly or check things at a moments notice, it is really nice to have a smartphone.  I was working on a group assignment and it was really nice to be able to get messages on the road and respond right then instead of when I got home.  Plus my friends and I once got lost in a city and was able to use the GPS function to find our way out.

Honestly, if you plan to use the data package, then it is well worth it.

There are cheaper plans with data options, but this also depends if you're willing to buy your own smartphone. Some smartphones can sometimes be as much as a computer, especially for the newer ones. The supplementary smartphone might seem attractive despite the contract cost, but if you're planning to not change your phone very often the no contract prepaid or similar plans do have some decent options.

As to the original question between a smartphone or a regular phone I love to look for deals, play games, use the phone for navigation purposes, translate, etc., so I sometimes do not see the smartphone as just a phone anymore, but almost an all in one device. After getting your first one you no longer have a desire to go back.

Smart phones are the best! Many apps you can download and lots of other great features they have vs reg phone.

I just use a regular cell phone. If you can use the internet in another location and it isn't important to check the internet throughout the day then it really isn't needed. However if you need the capability for doing your job or because you are out of the house for long hours it could be beneficial to have the internet features. Technically you can even use a regular cell phone to check things online once in awhile if needed.

I have never been the same ever since I got my first iPhone. I have been using iPhones since they came out. I will never go back to a regular cell phone ever again. Smart Phones are way better.

My husband has one and uses it all the time.  It is worth it for him.  I have a prepaid phone and like it fine.  I do not like to talk on the phone very much since I retired.  I had to use the phone so much when I was working, I really hated it!  Now I keep in touch with family and friends mostly by Facebook and email.  Apps Schmapps!!
