My all time very favorite John Wayne movie is "McLintock", I laugh just thinking about it.  My 2nd favorite is "The Quiet Man" both also star Maureen O'Hara.

My wife is a BIG time John Wayne fan. She can tell you who all is in his movies, when they were made etc. I personnally was not all that much of a Duke fan but, I had to watch because whenever a JW movie was on, she had it on, even if we just watched it. That's how much of a fan she is. My personal favorites is Green Berets, The son's of katie elder and the Shootiest

I like mcklintock, watchng my daughter laugh telling me how funny it is was wonderful.  Big Jake brings back fond memories also but I think my all time favorite is True Grit.  My favorite part being with jw and rd when he says that's mighty bold talk for a one eyed fat man and jw says fill your hands you *bleep*  and they ride towards eachother shooting.

So many good ones.  I love how The Duke lived his life just like he portrayed his characters on the big screen.  I named my son after one of his characters.  We could use a few more unapolagetic men... American men in movies today.

  wow nobody mentioned his oscar winner true grit. marshal rooster cogburn. then the shootist, because he actually had been rediagnosed with cancer. he died shortly after. the duke was a true american icon. you can not list all his really great roles and movies. may he r.i.p.

I loved the Sands of Iwo Jima.  Pretty sad but I loved it anyway.  Never was a big western fan but I liked his war stories.
