Personally I would not have either. Both those breeds tend to be too agressive. I have had 5 dogs in my life and  the best two breeds that I consider the best is German Shepheard and Collie, or even a mix of both. They are very protective but, good with children and not agressive with household members. I now have a beagle, she is a good animal but, needs alot of attention, she tends to be like a little child and does not like it when we go out.

Siberian husky is the best imo. They can be needy for a large dog, but they are great

I don't know about any breed being best.  I think any dog can be a great dog if they are trained and loved.  Mutts are even good dogs.  I understand that people like pure bred dogs and even show dogs, but after rescuing a few mutts, I don't focus so much on breed, but temperment.  I never met an ugly dog.  lol  I love them all.

Neither. They are both mean. My vote is for a Yorkie or yorkie mix  :dog:

I would agree with the previous response: I wouldn't choose either as a pet due to their somewhat uncontrollable, aggressive behavior.  Rottweilers aren't as aggressive until the realize that someone is afraid of them whic is probably quite often due to the dog's massive size.  I can look into the eyes of a rottweiler and have some semblance of whether the dog has friendly or non-friendly thoughts going through it's mind.  So, if I had to bring one of the breeds into my house, I would choose the rottweiler.  All of the good traits that I mentioned in the rottweiler are more difficult to discern in the majority of pitbulls.

Any dog of any breed can be sweet, loving, loyal, and friendly if they are raised with love and care.  Even breeds "bred" for aggression, if properly cared for and socialized, can be perfectly safe dogs (you don't see so many people complaining about German shepherds...aggression is one of the reasons they make such good police dogs).  On the other hand, dogs that are poorly socialized or treated roughly will likely be aggressive no matter what the breed.  And often, those who are more prone to mistreat or neglect their dogs also tend to be the type who would be attracted to having a "dangerous" dog breed in the first place.  Then they mistreat their dogs, who become aggressive...the cycle continues.

In terms of sheer aggression, smaller dogs are more aggressive than large dogs; large dogs simply do more damage when they are aggressive.

If a time came when I'd be looking for another dog, both rottweilers and pit bulls will be perfectly reasonable options for me.

I am not a fan of either breed. I am more fond of Afghanhounds, they are well tempered and are gentle to have around the family.  We have had several over the years and I have become use to them.

both dogs can be great dogs but I would be afraid to have the around children. We have a boxer and he is the sweetest dog so good with my granddaughter.

I wouldn't choose either dog, however, whatever you choose make sure you do some research before you make your decision. Growing up, I had a German shepherd (which I loved). I was very suprised a few years ago when my dad got an American Eskimo. Even though I don't live at home anymore, whenever I come over, she is always so excited to see me. She is by far the best dog I have been around. She is very smart and my dad has her trained very well. She is also great around all types of people.

Well spoken! I have an Akita. This breed is supposedly "aggressive" according to the insurance companies. This is the fourth Akita we have had and they all have been loyal, loving, obedient and well tempered. All of them have been rescue dogs as well as pure bred. The key to a well-behaved dog, no matter what breed, is training, taking care of their needs and lots of loving. Of course, my favorite breed is the Akita!

I didn't know that about Siberian Husky's? Wow I find that very interesting.

For me, I have owned each of the dogs you listed above. The German Shepherd we had was a great dog, he was very protective of my family especially my sister and I. As for the American Eskimo, the one I had was very sweet, very active LOL

I own a Jack Russell Terrier and I also had a Australian Border Collie the two together were the best breeds I could ever own.

A favorite breed is a personal preference.

My personal favorite is the German Shepherd.
