Do you think the economy is working in our best interest as the people of the USA? why or why not?

far far worse.... Especially for older (I am not talking about senior citizens) but 40+-something Americans can't find anything for years. Whoever said life starts at 40, lied.

I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

Wellll....yes and no. Yes because we still have a middle class. No because that middle class is slowly disappearing. However I'm hopeful it'll get better.

Well I'm 21 and I can't find a job because people who are older than me who should be in professional jobs aren't because they aren't really available have filled all of the available jobs that I qualify for.

Very true.  Who wants to pay an experienced 40+ middle manager a high salary and benefits when you can hire 3 younger people to do it for less money.  I gave up on finding work in my old industry and re-invented my career.  Strangely enough, I haven't been happier working for myself and doing what I am doing.

There are little or no good jobs available cause the man sitting in the White house has put sooo many new regs on employers that they create new or keep current jobs when current people retire or leave a job. Why do you think so many people are looking online for job opportunities via the internet, that aren't there either. If you have a job hang on to it and if you do want to find another job.....WAIT till you have the new job before you quit the other!!!!.

No! The biggest problem I see is they keep coming up with programs to help the poor and tax beaks for the wealthy. No one is looking out for the middle class!

Absolutely not. We are sending our jobs overseas, we are giving more tax burden on the poor and middle class than the rich. We only have service related jobs left since we can't have our laundry cleaned and food cooked by people in China. Many people are living without basic medical insurance. Most jobs don't provide benefits. Illegal immigrants can get the same benefits as citizens who pay into the tax system. Our system is absolutely not working in our best interest. It is in the best interest of the people at the top with the most say on how this country is run.

So true. I've been out of a job for over a year now. I had no idea it would be so damn hard to find employment because I was secure in my skills. Well, that's the problem. I'm over-qualified for most of the positions I have applied for and they rather pay someone younger less money than an older experienced fart who knows what they are doing. Yeah, the economy is far worse!

I don't have much argument as far as most of what you wrote, but your take on 'illegal immigrants' is NOT true. It is a fact that illegals pay billions in taxes such as sales, property taxes, social security, federal withholding like the rest (or most) of us, yet they will never see a 'return' on those monies like a documented citizen does/can.
The 1996 Welfare Reform Bill disqualified illegal immigrants from nearly all government programs including housing, Medicaid and Medicare funded hospitalization assistance, and food stamps/cards. The only services that illegal immigrants can still get is K-12 education and emergency medical care because it cannot be denied to anyone.
Many illegals also file tax returns by using the option given them for not having a social security number and almost all of them have paid much more than the required amount into the system. Many illegals are too afraid to file because they don't want to be deported and/or fined, so they NEVER file and all that unclaimed return money sits in the government coffers. The Internal Revenue Service doesn't track a worker's immigration status.

I am not supporting all the illegals who come here and never go through the proper channels to become citizens of the U.S. But I am pointing out that many of them do, in fact, contribute to the 'economy' of the government. As it says below all my posts: You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are NOT entitled to your own facts.

America is working for the people, the people are working for the government. Unless have a clean start in the whitehouse, this will go on until the country collapses.
