If we want to be able to complain about certain things in the goverment then we need to show some intrest we are so interested in a bunch of girls fighting for an hour but half of the country especially ppl ages 18-31 did not watch the state of the union. I mean if you asked most people what happened durring the state of the union or ask about the topics they couldnt tell you anything! SHOCKING :bs:

I agree with that, but if you want to answer that question its sad. I'll be honest I don't watch either, mostly because the both they are trying to attract attention. Most information you want to know about the government you can look up yourself online. The problem is that people do not talk to their kids about politics, so people are relying on what? Are they expecting their teenage friends to bring it up, and have a debate? No, come on. Their teenagers, they are thinking about dating or fighting or doing something stupid. So a majority of people that age have not been taught to care or even vote for that matter. My husband and I met when we were both out of high school. He didn't even know how to balance a check book. My brother didn't know how to do his laundry. Kids are not taught how to serve let alone make important decisions on their own. When I was in first grade I asked my parents who they were voting for and they said they don't vote! Can you believe that, in first grade I made them go vote for who I wanted. You need to think about the fact that most people do not start off that interested. Plus lets be honest, people are less intelligent now. The whole no kid left behind thing was a great theory, not put into place well. My mother-in-law is a teacher, and not only did she not teach her own kids the basics of life, she is forced to pass people that would never have passed before. Kids are also able to dress like tramps, hit teachers, and swear all the time. She can't even stop it in her own class. I have seen her grade papers and not think that one person in one of her classes should pass. However the teacher is the one who has to bend on how hard they grade, and the teacher is the one that gets in trouble if enough people do not pass. The kids have to want to try, and parents have to give them a constructive reason not threats. It amazes me how many people do not vote but still think they have a right to complain about who gets picked. Yet no one is bold enough to actually go independent to see if it would work better. It doesn't matter who gets picked if they are running off the same theories as everyone who has run before them in that group. If you really want change be willing to look for it, and try for what is right not easy.

If politicians weren't all liars, you'd likely get more viewers when there are debates, speeches and the like.  But even if you pay attention to politics, who cares about what a president says in the State of the Union?  Chances are, he's only lying anyway.  Pay attention to the actions he takes instead, and go based on that.

Where did you get this info from? I would really like to see your 'source'. I highly doubt Bads Girls Club took over the viewing of anything since this country is made up of far more people than just the idiots who would watch it. The State of the Union addresses no longer mean anything more than a Show of the President. It is not like it was when people relied on a radio broadcast in order to gather info on the state of the country. Obama is a smooth talker, looks good on TV, and loves to bask in the applause and limelight - even when the country is in the dark. >:(

Hmm, maybe you have difficulty with math? 50 million is more than 1.71 million, so that tells me 48.3 million more watched the State of the Union. :confused1:

The reason is simple: more entertainment. Young America is more about excitement and entertainment than education and current issues. Bad Girls Club is all drama, fights, parties, drinking, etc. It's exactly what young America loves to get into. How can the State of Union compare to that? I am definitely not saying it should be this way, but it's just what the country has come to.

Ummmmm. It didn't.  It didn't get more viewers than the State of the Union address.

I didn't watch either show. I don't watch the State of the Union becuase I can listen to the news and have them recap it in a few minutes. I don't want to listen to an hour of B#$%^ promises that won't get acted on anyway.

Because the President will give us nothing but lip-service. He is full of lies and non-sense and we can get that from the other show you mentioned and possibly have some entertainment that we wouldnt get from Mr. Obama. I am looking forward to the day that he leaves that office for good. :angry7: :crybaby2:

simply put. Have you every actually sat and listened to a State of the Union speech by any president? Absolutely the most boring speech you'll ever hear. You fall asleep after about ten minutes of a boring President giving a really boring and slanted speech about how well he's doing. Then you take into account our current president, who couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it. Even though i didn't watch it, i can see why Bad girls club probably easily got more viewers. Other than immediate family, i can't think of anyone else who would be remotely interested in anything this President has to say; unless its "I RESIGN IMMEDIATELY!!!!"

Never heard of the bad girls club, but I recognize the state of the union...   and it was informative, not like listening to the repiblicans trying to stop government for the last three years.
