What do you feel about WoW or Lotro farming and mining?

What do you feel about WoW ( and other MMORPGS with an online currency ) gold farming, powerleveling, selling of accounts, and gold mining?
I've heard that this is an easy way to earn some cash while playing games, but WoW seems confusing and hard to me. Runescape is pretty easy. Haven't started LOTRO yet. I've downloaded WoW and LOTRO onto my new laptop and have not played Runescape since I used my desktop. But I've heard that the highest players on MMORPGS, playing most efficiently, only earn enough gold in 1 hour to sell for 50 cents to $1.50 (depending on the demand at the current time).
What's your opinion?
