Has anyone used weight watchers? Can you share your experience, opinions, etc.? I am trying to decide if I should join. Thanks!

it's a great program.  I'm a online weight watcher.... but I've been familiar and around the program my entire life.  My mom used to be a leader for WW.

Like any weight loss program you have to put something into it-- a lot of hard work and effort, you need to not get down on yourself on your "off" week and you have to stick with it even if you have a bad day.

I definately say -- try it!  :)

I've been thinking about joining too.  I didn't know they had an online version.  That makes me even more interested, so I'll have to go check that out.

Thanks for the info. Can you describe how it works in general? Thanks!

well... the key to successful weight loss is staying motivated, being accountable and of course healthy diet/exercise program.
Weight watchers (WW) meetings usually consist of you weighing in and listening to a little discussion (30-40 minutes I think) about various topics. it's a great time to ask questions, voice frustrations and support the others around you.

Online is similar but the "support" is online -- there are discussion boards, blogs, etc. the "discussion" is also online with lots of information on their website.

Both will utilize the "points plus 2012" system which just upgraded in December.  Online you just put in your height and weight and it will tell you how many "points" you should eat in a day.  Then I purchased the "points calculator" for about $5 from their online store and it came within 48 hours.  this you can read food labels and figure out how many points; however their website also has a points tracker feature and you can search the database for the food you ate and it will tell you the points--or you can enter the information off a food label to get the # of points.

It's a really good program, if you have significant knowledge of weight loss you could succeed on the online program, but if you want to learn more and are more of a type of person that learns better hands on type things then I would try the meetings fact-to-face because the support system and accountability part is probably better than motivating yourself.

I joined the end of October after having a baby and I've lost 12 pounds... some weeks are better than others.  In total  I have lost 50 pounds since having my baby Sept 10th but I know much of that was the 'easy to lose baby weight'

Good luck!

Thanks so much for tatking the time to share this information. It looks like online may be a bit cheaper than the in person method, but I have to check out the dtails.

Thanks again!
