Celebrating New Year with guns.
« on: January 02, 2012, 11:59:57 am »
Why do we have to celebrate the New Year begining by firing a gun? I have a problem with this one a gun in the hands of an intoxicated person, buttlets have to land somewhere let's all think about this one.

I have no idea why people have to use guns on new years, it is so unsafe. I mean one year I had one go through one of my windows. Just Imagine had someone been looking out the window. I don't really think the people using the guns think about where the bullets are going.

I don't know why idiots feel the need to celebrate.
Some people in my neighborhood just burned down their house and a neighbors because they felt like firing off stolen professional grade fireworks in their backyard.
And their next door neighbors just happened to be gun enthusiasts...
Street was closed down all night due to secondary explosions.
I swear, people don't beat their kids enough now adays.

I've never heard of people celebrating with guns unless it was on TV. That sounds super dangerous!

I never understood  this either. I grew up in the city and it is really dangerous to shoot guns off in neighborhoods with kids. Especially after someone has been partying/drinking all night. I live in the country now and their are acres between neighbors. It is strange- in a rural community where everyone has guns- no one felt the need to celebrate by shooting off guns New years Eve. Glad I am out of teh city. Happy New years Everyone!!

That is literally the stupidest thing I've heard all year.  :P
"Yay! We made it another year! Now lets go see how well we handle these deadly weapons!" Usually while intoxicated, to make matters worse.

Apparently these people don't realize that even if you do successfully fire off, those bullets have to go and come down somewhere.
I don't really mind if you do it somewhere with a lot of acreage. Putting your own life in danger is one thing, but forcibly endangering others is not cool.

I've never heard of this either, or seen it for New Years or any holiday. Sounds a bit crazy.

I am not against honest law-abiding citizens having firearms.  And, would have to say, I believe that saying "if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns" because the bad guys always find a way to get guns and to do evil.  However, with that said I think its irresponsible to use guns as a way to "celebrate" the new year or any other holiday.  A young mother a couple of years ago, was blinded by someone doing that in our area and the person was two streets over from her.  Its immaturity and craziness.   :dontknow:

I've lived in Utah my entire life and I've never heard of anyone shooting a gun on New Years Eve as a way of celebrating.  New Years Eve in my world is all about singing Auld Lang Syne, clinking glasses with each other and...hopefully...receiving the kind of passionate kiss that you'd remember all year long.

Have a great day!

To use guns for any celebration  is crazy. guns don't kill people do. there are far to many guns in the wrong hands. Even though guns are a useful tool when use for the right reason. Man has to learn the value of what a life is worth, and that is life priceless.

To randomly fire a gun into the air if idiotic. Such irresponsibility promotes legislation to curb gun ownership.
1. the gun is ALWAYS loaded.
2. only point a gun at what you want to shoot.
3. be aware of what is behind your target in case you miss.
4. shoot to kill.

Who would want to kill air? What would you do with it afterward? a .22 cal round can travel of 1 1/2 miles and still be lethal.

If MORE GOOD people owned and carried guns then there would be less crime.
