On a recent episode of Criminal Minds, Reed spouted off some fact that said the music you choose once you turn 14 is something you associate with the rest of your life. Basically, it as at this point that most people start making their own musical choices instead of what their parents make them listen to. I can say this definitely is true in my case. I still love to listen anything 90's from country, boy bands, r&b, and soft rock. I have a few songs that I like from recent music, but I always go back to the late-90's for favorites!

I remember that show.  I agree with it too.

I listened only to soft rock as a teen, then turned away from it when I got into heavy metal.  Now I listen to all those and more.  The old songs invoke the good feelings they did back then.  I've broadened my collection with soundtracks and world music.  What I really got away from was listening to music much all together.  I was happier when I listened more often so I'm trying to get back into the habit.   ;D

Of course, that's the music I grew up with and I like music from before too... Hey Jude, and all those Beatles songs that were popular before me.

I do not listen to the same music because I have kids now. My house is noisy enough and I understand the lyrics better and would like to avoid exposing my kids to some lyrics.

You can find me on Youtube!

Some like Rush, Boston, ZZ Top, Deep Purple.  Others, not so much.  The 70's were an interesting time musically.

I think that's very true.I started listening to Phil Collins when I was about 13 or 14 and he's still my favorite artist of all time.

Not all music that comes out these days is bad,but there are no new groups that I enjoy enough to follow. The last being the Killers, who came out about ten years ago.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

I still listen to stuff I grew up with, but there's also a lot of stuff I don't listen to any more. On rare occasions I might listen to something either accidentally or intentionally for a nostalgia type of effect. There's a lot of music, particularly rap/hip hop/pop/r&b that I just don't have any interest in and haven't for years.
