I am sorry to hear that. So many people these days either have insurance that find any which way out of paying or they have none at all. Either way we are a screwed unhealthy bunch

I don't know what the answer is.  I was without health insurance until recently because of pre existing conditions.  Even if I paid for it I could not get coverage because I had a previous illness.  I understand that I am not a good bet for the insurance company but what is someone like me supposed to do to be responsible and protect themselves?

Recently the Feds put a program in place for people like me.  I purchase coverage through the state but at a very high premium.  Most people cannot afford to do so.  Even if you can you think long and hard about it because I am rarely sick so unless I get really sick it is a waste of my money.  There has to be a better way.

Like Hensley, no one should have to suffer when they need treatment.  I know a single mom who has had the same problem for years now.  She just has to deal with it because she can't pay for surgery.

On the other hand, people do need to cover some of their medical costs otherwise they will not use them responsibly and will not care how much they spend. 

I also am finishing up a degree in a health care field, so I see all sides of the situation, yet I have no solution that will fix it unless everyone gets coverage but the cost depends on your ability to pay.  Even that is not fair because some people will do nothing so that they can get theirs for free.

I Have Medical Assistance but only use it if i absolutely have to ,i have asthma and arthritus in my leggs and hands and my feet really bad but for most part im pretty healthy

What type of coverage do you have?  Does it allow for second opinions?

I have no insurance coverage at all.  Was going to a clinic that charged me $5.00 per visit.  I was then qualified for Social Security Disability.  When I began recieving disability the clinic now charges me me $100.00 per visit, which I am unable to pay.  Since then I have not been to the clinic (doctor) to get my prescriptions, so now I am not taking my medicines, because I cannot afford too.  So needless to say, I feel as though I have gotton screwed and my health is suffering because of it.  Don't know what else to do.  Hope you situation improves.

Health insurance companies are a crock anymore. I've had 2 family members in the hospital over the past 3 weeks and both are getting screwed over by their insurance company. I just switched plans, so mine hasn't treated me too bad yet (knock on wood), but then again I really haven't had to use it except to get my monthly medicine.

The only answer to the health care debacle in this country is universal coverage for EVERYONE and getting costs and insurance companies under control. We are at the mercy of the current system and I just can't fathom how they can look at themselves in the mirror given all the suffering they cause for profit.

The only way this problem will be solved is if congress ACTUALLY AGREES WITH EACHOTHER for all citizen's interest about healthcare. Unfortunately, that will probly never happen, because everyone in congress is on one side or the other. Its pretty sad to me that the gov. cant come up with a solution to this, without worrying about themselves first!!!

This is true but i guess they feel they are in a no way fix i mean how do we repair years of neglect and quick fixes
