How about a new payment method?? (Amazon, giftcard, etc)
« on: December 09, 2011, 01:53:09 pm »
Many people actually enjoy using giftcards and reward money toward a particular website or store. Hence, Perhaps Fusioncash should consider having one or two new payment methods toward a giftcard? Many survey websites do that, so why can't fusioncash do that too?

The short answer is that it makes it easier to defraud us if one can redeem gift certificates, since they are untraceable and unrevokable once issued.  Whereas with Direct Deposit, PayPal and check, there are controls: you have to show ID to cash a check (or have a bank account, which also requires ID); you have to have a bank account to Verify your PayPal account (and the bank account requires ID); you have to have a bank account to use Direct Deposit (which requires ID).

administrators reply makes sense.  Some sites that award the gift cards are straight survey sites - no paid to clicks, videos to watch, offers to complete, etc.  They also set strict standards and most usually have started out with cash only.  Some that used to send out gift card codes almost immediately have stopped and make you wait ten days or more even in order that they can verify information.  Here, we are assured of getting paid on the same time the month following out cash out.  The rules and terms are well spelled out and there's no guessing.  It streamlines things well.

I prefer the current options.  With cash through checks or Paypal, I ultimately control where i get to spend it without fear of losing value or fees rather than letting a retailer dictate terms of use.  Plus with paypal, funds can be used either directly or indirectly to purchase items from retailers.  Ultimately, cash is king and the more control I have over it, the better.  Keep on FCing.

I like the way it is done now, cash threw check, paypal, or direct deposit then you can use the money for whatever you want.  If you want a giftcard or want to shop at one those places take your cash and shop there.

I hope fusion cash doesn't change it is a great site the way it is.

Thanks fusion cash

I would also think that FC has some administrative expenses and perhaps the expense of monitoring gift cards is too great. Wouldn't you rather have the money for yourself and full control over where to spend it? I hate gift cards and my mother sends them every year. Last year I pointed out to her that she paid an extra fee of about 6.5% for a $50 american Express gift card, which isn't accepted all that many places, I would rather have the cash and the extra she spent on the fee if given the choice.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering. I prefer the cash myself, but I'm thinking in terms of some people that want giftcards, so  raised the question.

The cost of gift card issuance is another big factor.  Even at volume they're usually at least a few dollars, which doesn't sound like much but is more than 10% of a $25 cashout.  And you will likely get dinged by fees for using ATMs, inactivity, etc.  The payment methods we have now "just work".

I like the check option...something nice about having something that I can cash in and feel like I earned it...Plus, I'd use a gift card for other people instead of myself.

I dont mind the way they have it although contest promotions would be cool if they worked this way with gift cards.
