Fun Toy For Puppy
« on: December 02, 2011, 03:49:26 pm »
Took and empty 20 oz Plastic Bottle of Coke. Filled it have way with water. Put the cap back on. He plays with it, looks at it, knocks it around, the swishing water keeps him off guard, he stops, backs up, looks, growls, then attacks it again, going through this routine as if it is almost alive and he can't quite figure it out.

At least it keeps him busy for awhile and gives him some indoor exercise.

I discovered long ago that for a cat, all you need is an empty box or paper bag, or the ring off any plastic lid.  For horses a long piece of rope or a milk jug with a bit of gravel in it tied a bit over their head.  I will remember and try your recommendation for dogs and see the results and thanks for the idea.

How cute!  Just be careful he doesn't chew off any of the plastic.

anything that is chewable because you know dogs when it comes to biting.

My dog loves playing with a rag that we tied a few knots in. It's easy to throw down the hall where she chases it and brings it back, then proceeds to shake the daylights out of it.

We use the plastic bottle too, only we don't put water in it and take off the cap; our dog'll chew through the cap too quickly to keep it on.  The only other toy she likes is her large cloth rope, and she'll only play tug o' war with us for a few minutes every couple weeks.  She won't play fetch, doesn't like stuffed animals or *bleep* or discs or rubber chew toys (we've tried).  She'd prefer to lay down and chew a giant rawhide all day if she could, though.

Our cat, on the other hand, will play fetch....

I've got a kitty that likes to relocate his toys by carrying them around in his mouth.  I've seen this behavior before with previous cats, but this one takes it further.  We have a toy I call "track ball".  It's a donut shaped ring with a ball trapped inside it and slits for paws to poke into.  Magic loves it so much he'll spend hours attacking it.  What surprised me was when I caught him walking around with the thing clenched in his mouth like a dog would carry his food bowl.  Needless to say he's a rather big boy, even though he's only eight months old.  :cat:
