WHAT TO DO IF A SEX OFFENDER LIVES NEXT DOOR???

           Only my luck it feels like latley that the worst of the worst occurs to me.....I am a parent of two young children and am very concerned about what just moved in next door to me!! A level two sex offender who is on parole and he had a offended towards little children...should I move??

If you think there is any risk at all you should do whatever you deem best to protect your family.  I know what I would want to do but what is best for me is not necessarily true for you.  You just don't ever want to put yourself in the situation of thinking back with "..if only I would have..".

I would keep my eyes open.  I know there are certain places they can not live next to.  I have a teen and a pre-teen, so I would be looking at the local sex offender website once a week.  Try to get to know your neighbors.

If they aren't bothering me I don't care.  It's your choice if you want to move or not.  You could knock on the door and introduce yourself (while carrying a large crowbar) and tell him you know who he is and let him know that if he even looks at your kids sideways that he will be sorry he was ever born.

considering that the majority of pedifiles reoffend. I would contact every neighbor around, and post flyers in local bars, restaraunts,vfw, and any place that will let you. thats what i did when one moved in in my area.  I made sure i gave out the address of him to everyone..   He moved after a couple months..  he was also aware of me and my neighbors feelings, we both had young girls at the time and made it very clear.. worse he was also a short distance from a bus stop so we contacted his parole officer and local sheriff. anytime he was outside when there were kids at the bus stop..
we were told we were close to harassment, so yo have to be careful. but at the time did not give a damn.

You may be surprised to how many sex offenders are living very close to you. I lived in an apt and they sent out flyers when they moved in the neighborhood. I was disgusted for the parents in that area. It is not that easy just to up and move to a different area. They are everywhere! I knew a guy who had that on his record. They had strict guidelines of where he could move. Not within a 1000 ft of a school, church, playground, etc. I was like, I guess you will be living in the woods! :-

Well most sex offenders aren't actually child molesters, the laws really need to be changed concerning what deserves the label "sex offender." Unless you know otherwise you shouldn't just assume that your neighbor is a child molester.

Its better to know they are there than to not know who you live next to.  There are some people who have not been found out who are an even greater risk.  Dont let you kids outside alone.

I had a young man working for me once as a programmer who was 20 years old. He dated a young girl who was 17 1/2 (she told him she was 19). Her parents pressed charges against him and he was arrested. He is now labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life. The early poster was correct in saying that some of these laws need to be changed. That does not sound like your case as you seem to know he offends with small children. I think as a parent you must do whatever will give you peace of mind around the safety of your children. Good luck to you all!

i really don't know what to tell you how old are your kids and are they old enough to under stand that he is a bad man that likes to hurt children and to stay away from him if so then i think it would be OK to stay  there but if not then think about moving.

A level 2 sex offender is safe to be around children, they have to go to classes and it is really nothing to be concerned about really, you may be suprised.  Have you been to www.kaper.com to see what the violations were, before you pack up and move do your reashearch.
