My grandparents have been married over 50 years on my dads, not sure on my moms. I do know that my mom's dad and mom have both been divorced before they got married. So sometimes you just pick the wrong person the first time. Yes lots of people now a day's give up to quick, but others just don't date long enough or really know what they are getting into ahead of time. Plus some people just get married to escape their family, which will never last. My parents are divorced and I really wish that they hadn't waited so long to get divorced. They tried to stick it out with my mom cheating all the time. They waited until my younger sister was 16 to get divorced and I ended up taking care of her until she got married at 17! It would have been alot easier on us all as kids if she would have just left earlier. She completely destroyed my dad's life, and was so lazy from not wanting to be there that she messed up ours more then if they would have just split up. I started taking care of my sister most of the time when she was 5! My mom wouldn't and my dad was always working because she wastes money. So I say you shouldn't give up, but you also really need to wait until your mature enough to be married. My mom was 17 and just wanted to leave, my dad was eight years older and ready to be married. That is why he tried so hard to get her to stay, but it would have been better for everyone if they didn't wait until they thought we were old enough. No matter how well you think you are hiding it you never are. Its best for the kids if your not in a bad situation. It took my dad years just to recover, and I don't only mean emotionally. He found out while they were getting divorced that she hadn't filled their taxes in years, even though she set it up so she could do it alone while he was at work. (HE HAD TO PAY IT BY HIMSELF) He also had to pay off a semi, because he is a truck driver. (Because she ran off, signed a 10 year driving contract, and then decided she didn't want to do it. So my dad had to finish her contract.) And she had 3 cars repo'ed while he was out driving and she was supposed to be watching us. At a certain point I truely do think you should stop trying. My husband and I have been married 5 years now, and his parents are divorced too.
