    Even though im new to this wonderful site i always take the oppurtunity to meet new people and greatin my friends pool. i lost my cousin today to suicide its one subject that i just dont understand..In loss of words with my head in my hands and my heart on my sleeve im reaching out to everyone who has been through a loss like mine and a positive suggestion on how you coped with your loss!! I'm so very sorry for your loss of a loved one to suicide.     Please accept my condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

You must stave off the tendencies towards pity, for both your cousin and yourself.  Do not try to understand the reasoning behind your cousin's choice and do not feel as if you could have prevented or might have attributed to it in any way.  It is a difficult thing but you must eschew from contributing any emotion to this.  Your cousin has made you a part of whatever pain or confusion or insanity that your cousin was feeling the influence of.  It was an unfair thing of your cousin to involve you in, especially when you consider that you are among the ones left behind to have to pick up the pieces.  Do not feel anger about this though just take it as the trade your cousin chose to make and remain vigilant in the future to observe and inquire about the lives of those around you.

sorry about your loss but hey if they wanna end there life thats there choice... we cant make them we need to embrace. even tho its against what you belive in and sometimes you feel for em. but yeah its sad i know but thats the truth.. even a 7 yr old killed herself for bullying...

I know after my fiancee and friends died in a car crash, I wanted to end my life as well; still fight the urge these days as well.
Sometimes, there doesn't seem to be another way out, medication and therapy can only do so much.
Unfortunately the only thing that keeps me from taking such action is religion.
Now I'm not a heavy bible thumper, thats just what keeps my grounded.

Angela, I am so sorry for your loss.

I do not have any great words of wisdom.  I lost my brother over 10 years ago too. 
There is no way to understand the anguish and inner turmoil he was in that drove him to take his life.

My family has leaned on God through the loss.

I think you should remember all the lovely things about your cousin and smile, try to find light in your heart. i understand its an horriffic ordeal. We need balance in life just to survive. I agree fullly with the above poster.  May the God of Comfort envelope you in Love.  May you find comfort in the good memories.  With each passing day you will heal that much more.  Put one foot in front of the other.  Know that grief is necessary for healing.  Much prayer for your and your family.

My heart breaks for your loss.  It is so hard to understand how someone can become so desparate to take their own life.  It leaves everyone wondering what could have been done to prevent that awful loss.  Trust in the Lord and He will comfort you and bring you through this ordeal.  May God bless you and comfort you.

I'll first say that I'm sorry about your lost. I can relate because when I was in a high school I had a friend who committed suicide and another who died of cancer around the same time. During that time I stayed very close to my family and I that actually brought me closer to God. I don't know what you're beliefs are, but if you believe in God just turn to him and he'll give you the strength to press on. Even though the person is gone you were blessed with great times and its always comforting to reflect on the fun memories. You're always going to miss them, but it'll get better with time.
