Magic Jack

I heard it works great, but I have never tried it.  I am so old fashion I need the phone system.

Once you plug it in, you can't tell the difference. My bet is you have no clue what happens once the conversation gets into the wire from your hand set, so who cares what service does the work as long as it's simple and it works for less?

I have magic jack I have had it for about 3 to 4 years I really like it 20 dollars a year unlimited calls, I had wi-fi for internet service the calls where a little bumpy it all depended on how many people where using the internet at the time morning was better than evening. Got my own internet service the reception got better.

I know a few people with The Magic Jack, they have family overseas and all over the US  They tell me that they save a lot of money using it.

Vonage costs 10 times as much, so if price is your main focus it's not that much better. Now I just noticed Magic Jack has a new unit that doesn't need to be plugged into your computer, so I ordered one.

Does it get plugged into your router instead? I've been meaning to order it for a while, but I keep putting it off. We'll probably do it sometime this month.

I got mine yesterday and it works great. You plug it into your computer to configure it, then they give you a device with a USB port that plugs into the power strip directly that you plug the Magic Jack Plus into instead of your computer. The phone plugs into the Magic Jack like normal and there is another jack for your Internet RJ45 cable that goes to your router. Now my phone is online as long as my router is up and I never shut it off.

The installation was not "by the book" but I fiddled around for about 15 minutes and got it running with no real problem. I think my main problem was I didn't have enough patience, I just wanted it to plug and play instantly. Now I have two Magic Jacks running at the same time, my old one on my computer and the new Plus running stand alone.

Who told you that, the phone company? Lots of people say Fusioncash is not so great, but we all know that's simply not true.

My sister got some VOIP service.  I don't think it was Magic Jack, but not sure.  When she got it, it was horrible.  Her voice/volume was very loud, there was a huge delay, and lots of static.   She's since changed services. 

I'd love to know if anyone has been able to use Magic Jack with a fax machine.  So far, the online reading I've done seems to say it is hit or miss.  Anyone have luck with Magic Jack and a fax machine...sending and receiving?

Actually, I use faxes quite often.  We fax a lot of school papers back and forth between parents, among other things.  Surprisingly, not everyone is email savvy yet and do not know or care how to create pdf files or even know what adobe reader is.  I use the fax machine often enough, that I still want/need access to a real fax machine.
