Do You Read?

I am thinking about getting a E-reader. What is the best and most affordable one out there?

If you want it mostly for reading, watching movies, etc., and not a lot of other apps, I would go with the new Kindle Fire from Amazon. It is not as advanced, function wise, as an Apple iPad, but @ $199 it is less that half the price of the iPad. You can also read in the dark with the Kindle and that is a big positive IMO. It is something I can use during downtime in our sleep/rest lounge at the hospital and I don't have to worry about disturbing others who are asleep. :)

I love to read. It's funny, I have a Nook e-Reader but never use it. I love the feel of holding a hardback book while I read. I think that in the summer when I go on vacation I may convert to the e-Reader. It's just a matter of teaching an old dog a new trick

My brother just got a Kindle Fire and he likes it a lot.  I've got an iPad and have used it a bit for some book samples, but I prefer a good ol' real, physical book.

I always like the "idea" of a kindle but end up deciding that I don't have the time to read enough to get the most use of it.  Not sure what it says about me or my pursuit of intellect but I generally end up watching tv instead of finding a good book to read.

I love to read and read every day.  I have tons of "real" books, but just purchased a Kindle Fire and hope to figure out how to use it so I can download some books to it.  We go on a few vacations every year and it would be handy to take that instead of a bunch of books.

My smartphone has an eReader app and I just download .pdf files of my favorite books and place them in a folder on my phone. Anytime I want to read, I have the books in the palm of my hand. I was able to make money by selling my actual books to a used bookstore. There are some that I keep because they're rare and I would rather hold on to them, but I keep them on the shelf.
