Do you eat dressing or stuffing with your turkey?
« on: November 13, 2011, 11:01:23 am »
Some people call it "dressing", while others call it "stuffing".  Which do you prefer?  I guess I say it both ways, but "stuffing" is used most often.

I mostly say stuffing however I prefer to make the stuffing by itself.  I hate stuffing in the bird.  I don't like the texture or consistency.  It seems that when the stuffing is in the bird it doesn't cook through enough and it's too wet and raw just nasty.

i feel the same way so we do both some in the bird and some in pot in the oven, just love stuffing and gravy

Neither, because I do not like stuffing or dressing with the turkey I eat.

We always stuffed our turkey and it was delicious!  Our turkeys were always well done so the stuffing would be fairly dry so we could put lots of gravy on it!!

Some people call it "dressing", while others call it "stuffing".  Which do you prefer?  I guess I say it both ways, but "stuffing" is used most often.

Stuffing is when it's stuffed inside the bird before cooking and dressing is when it's cooked separately, outside the bird.  Most people and some packaged food companies use the two terms interchangeably, but that's incorrect.

I usually bake a turkey for Christmas and do it the old fashioned way, from scratch.  A week before I bake two loaves of bread and one pan of cornbread, break them into pieces and toss them in this huge bowl I have. I give the bread a toss every day and it dries out perfectly.  On Christmas day I add mushrooms, apples, an onion, broth and lots of seasoning then stuff my bird and baste it by hand.  The house smells great and dinner melts in your mouth.  Yum.  ;D

Turkey and dressing in Florida, but we know what stuffing is.  LOL.  I always stuff my turkey and have some dressing on the side.
