Why would anyone throw the dice this way when it comes to something so private and personal? I'm pretty old fashioned and believe that the good Lord will bring your mate to you. I mean, what can you tell by a profile? Remember that Craig's List guy that preyed on women and then murdered them?

Just like Jcribb said. The woman she knew was never heard from again. She could be okay......or not. Especially going to another country to meet someone. I travel allot and I can't tell you how many parents, sisters, brothers, etc., are in foreign countries looking for a missing loved one. Not just from the US either. Check the stats and they will scare you to death. There are people that prey on unsuspecting people online. It's a profession to them.

Yah I met this girl online and we were supposed to go out on Valentine's day, well before we even went out she got into a fight with her exhusband and she never got back to me after her FIGHT that night we were supposed to go out. A couple of days later I contacted her to see what happened and I found out see has five different kids form 3 different dudes instead of two kids from her failed marriage. Oh and she's banging her roommate and her landlord. TRUE STORY TOO.  :o :BangHead: :o :BangHead: :o :BangHead:

online dating is definately the "new" thing (maybe for the last decade already)
my husband and I met online, I was not a "bar scene" kinda girl so I online dated a lot I guess.
My husband and I will celebrate our 5th anniversary next week and we dated for nearly 2 years before that so I know it can work.

I agree with previous post though -- you can meet a lot of "clunkers" and you have to be cautious/smart about what you share, how you share information and where you meet, etc.  BUT I am a true believer that you can meet "clunkers" anywhere--- anyone can lie about who they are or what they want - even if you meet them at the bar.
Congratulations!! And Happy Anniversary

Thanks -- tomorrow will be 5 years!

I know people that have met online and it really worked for them but it's not something I do. If they are interested in meeting you and they go out with you, you can almost guarantee they are still seeing other women from the dating site.

I heard that about 1 in 5 relationships start online now.  And to think I grew up without a computer... maybe that's why I didn't date much in school huh?  And, although I have been married a couple of times, lived with a few people, and have lots of girlfriends, I've still never met anyone online.  (Maybe that's why I have a lot of ex'es and formers huh?)... Maybe I should give it a shot.  Of course, my fiance would remove a body part or 2 if she caught me...
LOL be brave and good luck ;D

I've been trying to connect with people via online dating sites, but I have been unsuccessful. I've gotten two recent responses - 1 looks promising but this is still too early to tell. I'm not really good at advertising myself.

No, I have never tried to meet the love of my life online. No pun intended either, but it seems so weird and un-natural. It may work for some, but nothing I ever wanted to try. I'm married now, but if I become single again I'll be out in the real world, not the cyber world.  :peace:
