Body Type/Clothing
« on: October 29, 2011, 11:39:45 am »
so it has finally accured to me that you can't just buy a shirt because it's cute - you have to make sure it flatters your body type.  I finally realized I want shirts that don't show much clevage and I like long shirts and dark jeans.  Halter tops go good with me but I have to wear a short necklace to make it look less plain.  I can't wear long necklaces because I have also discovered that girls with bigger chests look silly with long necklaces.  When I am out of debt I have some serious shopping to do because I basically haven't been shopping since high school and it shows.

I think that's a personal oppinion.  You have to like the way you look.  I personally buy clothes l like such as jeans and baggy t-shirts.  They don't flatter my figure at all but I like them and I couldn't care less about 'showing off my figure' as much as wearing clothes I really like.  Just like yes I do like high heels but I'd take a pair of old sneakers any day over them because they don't make your feet hurt when you walk in them.  And why would you want to buy clothes that flatter your figure anyway?  You know what shape you have what difference does it make if your clothes do or don't show it off?  That sounds pretty shallow to me and as for the big chest thing.  You are wrong.  Many women, myself included wear long necklaces because jewlery isn't based on chest size it's based on the blouse you are wearing.

Well fo rme it doesn't matter what shirt I wear I guess I personally just don't like how the necklace hangs I like it when the whole thing touches your body - with big 'girls' it just is different.  I like high heels too, but I don't wear them because I don't feel comfortable in them because I'm SUPER tall and feel like I walk funny in them.  Plus I like when my fiance is taller than me, and if I do that he wouldn't be.

I guess the whole point for me is I'm 21 and people always think I'm 16 and I finally linked it to the clothing I was wearing.  I don't want to look like a little kid I want to look my age, especially when I'm out with my 2 children.  People do judge and if they think I'm a 16 year old with 2 kids I feel like I won't be respected.  Although I have noticed that young girls are having children and I guess on that topic the way I feel is whoever is that age and has the courage to keep the baby and do their best to raise a good child all the power to them, I think that's great.

Well, I gotta tell you BK_Adores_Chase, looking at your profile pic, just about ANY shirt would look good on you!  (Looks like you put the "HOT" in hottie!).  I hope that's not too politically incorrect?!  I guess I'm a bit old fashioned--I figure if a girl looks pretty, you should be able to tell her.  Unless of course your husband or boyfriend is a UFC fighter, pro football player, or professional boxer... then I'll have to apologize profusely!

You need to wear whatever clothing you're comfortable in and thinks looks good. I'm tall and busty and I wear heels and long necklaces all the time. I get told I look like I'm still in high school even though I'm 21 but I'm not going to go out of my way to dress how people think I should.

You can dress to please or dress for yourself. If you like how you dress it doesn't really matter what other people say. Of course for your job you may need to dress to impress but leave that for work. Be comfortable about your dress and if you like it your confidence will shine through.

I'm a guy so I just buy what feels good on me and don't put much thought into it.

I think showing too much skin looks plain trashy....don't care how good you're built. It's classy to leave something to the imagination. I hate to say this about my own gender but women need to be more respectful of themselves and demand better styles that flatter...not flaunt.

My body is oddly shaped. I have wide hips and a small waist. I   like to wear tanktops and daisy dukes. Its hard to fimd good clothes that fit right and look good on me.

Well I kind of think I do dress for myself.  My fiance thinks uggs are the ugliest shoes in the world but I love them and don't care what he thinks.  and I agree with whoever said the thing about flatter instead of flaunt.  It makes me uncomfortable if I'm wearing a really low cut shirt I always think people think I'm trashy.  I don't want to give that impression.  Then again sometimes I tell myself "well if you were wearing a swim suit you'd be showing just as much so what's the big deal".  I don't know what the big deal is people are crazy.

Since I'm in a career that I have to look "polished" all the time, I have my favorite designers. Lands End for the more casual look and Kasper and Le Suit are my favorites for my professional clothes. I also like some DKNY things for casual wear. They can be casual but look dressy also. Everyone has to be comfortable in their clothes or why wear them? Nothing is worse than being uncomfortable in your clothes or shoes. Over years you learn what cut of clothing is right for your body type. I like modest well tailored clothing with classic cuts that never go out of style. I have some suit jackets that are 10 years old, but are still in style. You pay a bit more for classic fashionable clothing, but you have them for years.

It's always nice to renew your style as well! After I had my son I was going through my clothes and realized that most were bought in high school and it's different than I what I wanted to wear. I just went through all my "small" clothes and donated the majority of them because #1 I won't ever be that size again (WAY too thin for me) and #2 Even the larger small clothes just wouldn't be something that I would be comfortable wearing anymore.

Have fun renewing your wardrobe!!! :)
