I believe tha all ppl should learn english if in america, any other language is up to u.

I agree. If I moved to some other country, I would expect to learn the language of the country I was moving to! :)

No, I don't think there should be a one world universal language.  The United States should have only one official language, though.  ENGLISH!  Everyone should learn it or leave.
Have a wonderful day!

Our differences make us a great people.. so no i dont think we should all speak & write the same however according to our residential country and our daily living activities & working relationships we the people should make every effort to communicate with the people we  encounter on a daily..

It would be great if there was one language we could all speak so people could communicate all over the world. However, it may not work in the real world. I hope the languages that exist do not go away in favor of one language.

Everyone already speaks the same language, it's just most people(me included) fail at it. That language is mathematics.

Is that the infamous "L + A – Z / Y" equation?
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I don't everyone should know the same language. English is well known, but there are other languages that dominate it such as spanish and chinese. I don't know if there will be a universal language soon.

I think that we need to understand other languages.  I know even if you do not speak the same language, we still can communicate by hand gestures.  I want to learn another language (maybe Spanish) , I know some french since high school.

This has bothered me for years. Everyone who lives in a country that speaks a different language from their own should at least make an attempt to learn the language. All children and people work in the country should learn the language. Speaking the language of the country that you work and live in is a sign of respect. :peace:

:) Well the  truth is that all of us originally were meant to speak the same language, now I see language as a way to keep busy because there are never ending ways to communicate.

It would be great if we all could learn English as our second language to make communication over the world a bit easier, but sometimes it's fun to speak in made-up sign language (frustrating but funny too)

How sad and boring this world would be if we were all cookie cutter images of one another.  Yes, I so agree with you that diversity is what makes this world a wonderful place! Although it is true that English is taught as a standard language in many countries of the world - it in many ways has caused those in English speaking countries to be a little "lazy" about learning a second language.  I went to a private academy for high school.  It was a requirement for graduation to take 4 years of another language. I took Latin which has helped me in many other language translations inclusive of English.  In college I minored in German.  Although I am not fluent in the speech/reading of the German language I know enough to go to Germany and communicate as a visitor.

It would be nice if everyone can learn to speak another language beside English.  They use to make you learn French, German and Spanish, but we need to learn the other language that other people are speaking in our nail shops and other stores.

In my opinion I believe that the best thing we have in this world is the diversity of races, culture, customs and language. Language is the living expression of culture. The world would become much less diverse and much less interesting if there was only one language.

What do you guys think?

It really would be much less diverse and interesting, but it's a good idea we all have some form/base to be able to communicate. English is widely known, and as long as we can all get in touch with each other in one way or another, there is no problem speaking multiple languages! It's like a communicative tradition!
