Why Do People Sleep In Their Contact Lenses?
« on: October 05, 2011, 03:14:46 pm »
:dontknow: People really do not need to sleep in their contact lenses because they don't need to see anything while they are asleep anyway. They need to give their eyes a rest.

I don't wear my contacts anymore but when I did, I wasn't able to sleep in them.  I really wanted to because I'd love to be able to wake up and see but I guess it wasn't meant to be  :crybaby2:

for me it was one of three things: laziness, forgetfulness, or convenience.

sometimes when you're tired you just don't feel like going to poke at your eyes for a couple minutes, or you just forget and fall asleep with them in anyway. i think some contacts are designed especially so you can sleep in them, which i think is really nice. sure, you don't need to see while you're asleep, but for people with poorer vision i'm sure it's really nice to be able to wake up and actually be able to see in the morning.

mine weren't designed for that, though. if i accidentally sleep in them, i wake up seeing nothing but blurriness until i either go take them out or put some solution in my eyes.

Why do people sleep in their contacts?  Because they're lazy.  I've probably slept in mine a total of 3 times since I got mine, by accident.  It's part of my nightly routine to take out my contacts, so I rarely forget.  It's very, very bad for your eyes to sleep in ANY contacts.  This is because the material can start to attach to your eye (scary!).  Your eyes need to breathe!  It takes less than a minute to take contacts out and store them, so people really should have no excuse.

You should also never wear contacts on long flights.

I could never put them in my eyes, I blink when ever I have tried to put visine in them. I definitely cannot see putting contact lenses in. I would rather every thing look blurry. lol

When you find the right brand of contacts for you, you do not even feel them after you put them in. Quite honestly I have completely forgotten they were in MANY times. I use the daily throw away ones and they actually keep my eyes from drying out.

sometimes people are too tired, so they sleep with it by accident. I know, because my friend did the same thing. makes me glad I wear only glasses.

I've been told that one should not do that due to the possibility of the lens becoming dislodged and cause irritation.

I think that mostly people just forget to take them out. Personally I take them out every night, the only exception to this is when I'm camping. Camping is not conducive to the removing and storing of contacts if you want them to stay clean! :)

Who sleep with there contact on??? I think that thing is so uncomfortable to sleep with it?  I don't know how they can do that.  I don't wear contact lenses anymore because they are so uncomfortable to my eyes.

I only need to take out my contacts once a month, so I sleep in mine.  It's just easier.

Mine are so comfortable that I pretty much forget that I have them in, even when I wake up.
