It works really well. My wife loves hardboiled eggs, but was forever overcooking them until they cracked and the whites oozed out or thurned the yolks green. The cuisinart comes with a measuring cup. You decide if you want soft, medium, or boiled eggs. then you decide how many you want 1-7. Then look on the scale on the side of the measuring cup and fill water to the correct line.
Be sure to add a drop or two of white vinegar to prevent lime (calcium) buildup on the cooker.
It works like a rice cooker. When the water is gone the alarm sounds. You need to turn the cooker off or it will keep on cooking after its alarm quits. There are three trays included for poached eggs. I don't use that too often, but I don't mind the texture at all. Someone that is a freak for perfect poached eggs wouldn't be using this gadget anyhow.
Its storage space is minimal. Given how easy it is to toss 7 eggs in there and walk off until the alarm beeps, this is a winner. We store the eggs in the shell in the refrigerator until we eat them. The shell comes off very easily when the egg is cold.
