are you proud of being an american?

I am very proud to be an American and my ex served in the Navy and I think that as his family we served with him. My hat goes off to those left behind to hold down the home-front.

I also served, 21 years and 3 months in the US Army.  During those years, and after my retirement from the Army, I spent enough years in a lot of other countries to know that you're not as free as you all think you are.  It's very comforting for you all to tell yourself how wonderfully free you are, how many of you have ever spent years, not days or weeks, living outside the US?  You might then learn that you have freedoms that others don't, but that other countries also have freedoms that you don't.

america is great but we need more money and more economy safe gadgets, or toys. we are trashing this free land. and as they say its easy come easy go. but this land was not easy to get it was earned.

I'm glad i'm american because some countries have it really bad but i am not so proud to where i put down other countries. There are some great nations and people out there.

I would be more proud if we allowed gays to marry another person from another country... My fiance lives in Germany and we can't get married here, therefore we are going to end up moving to Canada.  America is wonderful though and I am thankful to call it home.  hopefully one day we can overcome the DOMA rule... lots of opportunity here for sure... I realized that on all my travels, we do have it good here.

Yes I am because at least I know I'm free; amongst other important things like the right to self express & vote just to name a few! God bless America. i just love to live in the best country in the universe. and its free, but u have to fallow some laws to keep it safe.

Am proud of being an american because the school is free.And for accepted of who i am here. 

I am very proud to be an American, I was born in Canada. There are so many opportunities in the US if you are willing to work hard, I still believe this even with the recent economic conditions. I would argue that school is not free, we all pay property taxes, either directly if you own a house or indirectly if you pay rent, but we need more funding for our schools and less for other things, or we need to pay more taxes, cant have it both ways.

Very proud.  Two thirds of the members of my family are now or have retired from different branches of the military in fact.  I may not always approve of what the govt. does, but I do realize that we have a lot more freedom than most countries, and people tend to forget how hard it was to come by that freedom!
