Thinking about the workers you see everyday
« on: September 19, 2011, 07:30:42 pm »
So i am a pizza delivery driver and it gets very busy on friday saturday sunday nights and i worked this weekend and on sunday i started at 11 till 8 i never had any break i had not peed ate drank anything and i was driving all day it was raining and a lot of sports games where on so i was trying my best to make customers happy and get pizzas on time and when i came home at 8 and my parents found out i never peed ate drank anything all day they were mad that i did not take a break i told them it was busy they said they dont care its a pizza if it  is late no big deal its a 10 dollar pizza and you need to take care of yourself and i had lots of angry customers complaining my pizza is 2 hours late and i am like i am sorry we were really busy ( im killing myself to get there as fast as possible) so anyways to my point really think about the people that you encounter everyday you do not know how hard they are working its like you just do not apperciate certain jobs or people till you are in their position so i try to always be nice to workers because you dont know how hard they work i mean those customers had no idea how hard i was working they just saw there pizza 2 hours late anyways theres my rant so try to appreciate all the people you encounter I TRY !!!!

Thanks for the look behind the scenes of a Pizza Delivery Guy. You are right that we should consider what others may be going through in their day. You have a good attitude and I predict you will do well in the business world and life. I am going to find something to compliment someone I encounter on their job today because of your comments. :)

Thank you for the wonderful reminder that everyone is human.  I try to be patient and not take my frustration out on the deliverer!  If I did, I'd never speak to my mailman again for all of the bills he brings me!  That would be very bad since Ron sits across the aisle from me in church!
Have a wonderful day!

I soo know how you feel. Used to work at a bowling alley, talk about a job where everyone treats you like a peace of S***. Oh and a little piece of advice NEVER WORK FOR AMF!

Your parents are right.  You need to demand basic time for yourself on the job to take breaks and eat.  You can damage your kidneys and your body if you do this often.  NO JOB IS WORTH YOUR HEALTH!  You take the time to eat and use the bathroom and if your employer has anything to say about it you need to report them.  You are no good to yourself or your job if you end up in the hospital.  You or your job is not so important that you should damage your health over it.  Don't kill yourself over pizza.

Your parents are right. You should be able to eat and use the bathroom when you are working a 9 hour shift. I've done fast food, so I know how people can be, especially when you are busy and understaffed.

yup i just think when you work a job you realize all the work the person does and everything you may think that person who is sitting in mcdonalds has an easy job but who knows until you work i just try to think about all the people i encounter and try to treat them well because i have never been mean really but when you are in a rush you just may not be the nicest so think about people and be nice

I think people are too critical of most workers ... they are usually over worked, under paid and under trained.  My son was a late night pizza delivery boy when he was 19 and when he came back in from delivery there was a gunman in the store that stuck a gun in his face and locked them all in the freezer.  The only thing that saved them is the fact the guy was trying to steal one of their cars and he couldn't get it started so he opened it up and made the guy start the car for him and he took off.!!  They get paid so little and they risk their lives and it is so hard on their car to deliver pizza because they are always rushing in and out and down bad roads etc.... I think we should just have a little more compasion for everyone.

Agreed!!!!! I think that everyone is just overworked and overstressed these things happen, when you get frustrated you take it out on someone else if we all had a little more compasion i think it would be good, I am taking it your son was ok thats good that is a very crazy story WOW
