I haven't tried electronic cigarettes but I did quit after nearly 50 years as a dedicated and sometimes fanatic smoker.  I  can tell you that I doubt that it's a desire that ever completely goes away but after almost 4 years, there are lots of days when I don't think about it at all even though my husband still smokes.  If you can get through the first 3 days, you'll have it licked physically and then only need to battle yourself mentally.  If you get the urge and can resist for 5 minutes, it will go away and you will start to feel better.  I don't know why but drinking cold water seems to help reduce the urges.  Good luck to you both!

I have never used them, but I would like to hear some opinions about them too. I've been smoking for about 6 years and my hubby and I really want to quit, mostly for our kids sake. We smoke outside and they aren't around it, but I still feel guilty about it. I don't want them to smoke when they get older, and I can't rightfully tell them not to when I do. My cousin has used electronic cigarettes and he likes them a lot, but I still don't know much about them.

I use to smoke for 4yrs and I didn't use electronic cigarettes to help make myself quit. I used one of those patches that you stick to your arm. I personally think those electronic cigarettes would be a waste of money. Then again, I don't know much about them.

I am not a smoker but I have seen people using the electronic cigarettes.
I don't think they are trying to quit but just eliminating some of the toxins.

I could almost quote you by verbatim myself. So your cousin, how long using them I wonder. And cost wise, does he say it is cheaper? And I wonder if after awhile he thinks maybe he will quit altogether. This one be nice to know before I go trying them myself, what do you think?

I have used them.  My boyfriend and I shared one and we kept destroying the optimizer which is what the filter connects to.  You have to use them as directed and charge them just like it says or you can destroy them.  You can get a starter kit free online and pay for shipping but after a month you will be charged $49.99 plus shipping for the filters unless you return it.  Other wise they are ok, it will depend how much you smoke as well becasue each filter is like a pack of cigs and you get 10 I think for that price.  I ended up going back to cigs and so did my boyfriend but we didn't use it all the time.  Oh and you can't use a cell phone charger we burnt ours up that way you must use the charge it comes with.

I own the V2 ecig. I bought the starter kit for $79.95. It came with 2 batteries (you can choose length and color) , charger, and 10 cartridges. You can choose the flavor and the strength of your cartridges. The strengths come in full 18mg, med 12mg, light 6mg, or 0mg nicotine.  I also bought a sampler pack that has 10 cartridges of different flavors. You can also choose the strength on that as well. It was $16.85. Each cartridge is supposed to be around a pack of cigarrettes. So that alone is a super deal.

Total price plus shipping was about $94.

It works really well and am really liking it. They are way safer and better for you then normal cigs. No Tar or other carcinogenic ingredients, No burning, No second hand smoke, No odor, I haven't had a real cig since I recieved it. I have all kinds of different flavors, Cherry, Chocolate, Vanilla, Cola, Menthol, Coffee, Peppermint, Sahara(like a Camel), Red (like a Marlboro), and Congress (like a Parliment). I love it and recomend trying it if you are a smoker. It could just save your life.

I did my research and decided to go with the V2. I don't regret it at all. It's a great product and don't think I will ever have the desire to smoke a real cigarette again.

I am not a smoker, so I have never tried them and I don't think I ever will because smoking stinks.

So I take it, it doesn't save much or any money then? It sounds like it costs as much to get them then to buy cigarettes. That's another one of the big reasons I want to quit. I want to save money. I spend an average of about $5-$6 a day because I smoke about a pack a day, sometimes a little less. So that's around $150-$180 a month. If 10 filters is about 10 packs and that is $50, then that would be 3 a month, which would still be $150, plus shipping? The price doesn't make much sense to me, since a lot of people that want to quit smoking do it because they want to save money. Correct me if I'm wrong.

10 cartridges do not cost $50. For the V2 ecig you can buy cartridges in these increments.

5 pack for $12.95            (5 pks real cigs @ $5 = $25)
20 pack for $44.95          (20 pks real cigs @ $5 = $100)
40 pack for for $66.47     (40 pks real cigs @ $5 = $200)
80 pack for $129.95        (80 pks real cigs @ $5 = $400)

Shipping you figure is $5-$10.

If you figure a pack of smokes cost on average $5 and one cartridge is equal to a pack of smokes the savings are tremendous. Just do the math. Better yet go to some of the webpages and learn more about the products.

So with the cost much cheaper and the FACT it is a much healthier option it is worth the try if you truly want to stop smoking regular cigarettes.

i dont see electronic cigs as a wayto quit, but i have taken a few puffs off a friends elec cig. he uses it to keep his baby from being exposed to secondhand smoke. in my opinion, the taste could improve... and nothing beats a real cig... but not bad overall.
