How many on here are non-religious?

Hi, just wondering how many people on here are atheists, or just non religious? If you are, have you ever had anybody be mean to you because of it? I am dealing with a lot of bad things lately because of my lack of religion and I could use some tips on how to deal with family/friends, even strangers who are mean to me.

I am a Christian and my best friend is an atheist.  Although our views differ, we love each other as people.  I am sorry people are mean to you.

My sister is christian and I am agnostic, we just don't talk about religion.
I have friends that are religious and friends that aren't, we have discussions about things but try not to let them go too far so nobody gets offended.
I think just letting people know you don't want to discuss religion might help your situation. Like for me, if someone starts talking about religion I tell them "there are only two things I won't talk about: politics and religion, because neither conversation ends well"
Because even two people who are the same religion can argue about different parts of their religion. Just as two people who are the same political party can argue about different aspects of it.

If they insist on talking about it with you, change the topic or stop speaking with them. Also, try not to wear things that will obviously offend someone like "christianity is stupid" or whatever lol It's like an invitation to start a conversation about it.

I'm not religious but I am spiritual.  I believe in a higher power but I don't label or subscribe to a particular religious group.  No one has been mean to me about it because I don't talk about my beliefs in just general conversation.  The next time it comes up just change the subject or say you don't want to talk about it.  Everyone believes in different things no use in arguing over it.

I try not to talk about it, but my family is very big into church and recently they noticed I don't like to go and demanded to know why so I told them and and they told all the people who go to our church and the word spread around the neighborhood and it's been hard. It's not like I go out of my way to stir up controversy but oh well. Life happens that way I guess.

If your family is christian then part of christianity is accepting and loving everyone regardless of what race they are and what beliefs they have.
Don't go with them to church just to please them, this will help you avoid the community they've tried to rally against you.
Just let them know that their refusal to accept you for who you are is straining your relationship and making it difficult for you to be around them.
Hopefully they're mature enough to understand that and quit hassling you.

I am a christian. I believe in GOD and nothing else. Everyone  have their own belief. I dont knock or condem anyone. I dont even get into many religous conversations, unless im taking with my sister or another christain.

I'm a devout Christian and find the tables quite reversed. We as Christians find a lot of unbelievers mock our commitment to God.

However, everyone has the choice. You will find many atheists and diagnostics on the "Debate & Discuss" portion of this forum. I left the D&D discussions because of the name calling, cursing, and mockery dished out on a daily basis to Christians. Since Christians do not partake in the same to retaliate back, the playing field is a bit one sided.

God is the Master of Love so His Children should also practice such. However, we are not doormats nor will we stay in an environment that does nothing but drag the Name of the Lord in the mud and/or blaspheme His person or Deity.

If whatever is being done to you is offensive, then leave. It shows respect for yourself and stops the other from continuing. You set the boundaries. A person that hurts another must have that person as an audience to further their cause. When the audience is gone, so is the contention.
