I have a tat that I designed myself.  It's all color with no black lines.  It's only visible if I want it to be, if I wear a low cut top.  I got it in my 20's to replace a beauty mark, a flat mole, that my mom had my baby doctor burn off because she was afraid of everything.  I love it.   I hate needles and found it nauseatingly painful.  That said I'd get another if I could afford it and decide on how to design it.  I'd just prepare for the pain and nausea.

In this day and age it doesn't carry the stigma it used to, at least not everywhere.

I like the marker idea.  Wear it as a temporary for a while and be sure she wants it.  There is laser surgery to remove tats but it's expensive.  She has to do this for herself, not for someone else.  She should also consider her career.  Will it interfere with her keeping or getting work in her chosen field?  Some career fields have rules about appearance.

In the end she has to make her decision out of knowledge and strength, not fear and do what's right for her.  :peace:

Tattoos are cool.  My parents hate them, and I can't get any till I move out of my house, but as soon as I can I'm gonna get a little seahorse on my hip.

I have 6 tattoos, all of them are small though. I love them all. I always get one when something I want to remember happenes.
I'm from Japan and when I go back there, I can't go to public pool or bath which is okay with me though.

I have 2 tattoos myself (on my upper left arm , and on my right ankle). I think its a persons choice if they want to get a tat or not. I personally would never get a sleeve done or go crazy with it, but alot of ppl do and it is addictive. I HATE HATE HATE needles!!! But getting the tats didnt bother me at all. The "recovery" of getting a tat was a lil bit more difficult then actually getting it. You have to take really good care of it making sure it doesnt get exposed to sun, water, etc. It is a big decision and something that should be thought about. But i'm for them, its a way of self expression I think. And i definetly want more lol

I'm 18 and my parents paid for my first tattoo for my birthday. It's across the entire top of my back and was a little pricey, but well worth it. I made sure for years for getting it, that it was what I wanted. If I ever got sick of looking at it, I knew that it wasn't for me(which happened multiple times).  Finally, I settled on wings with lyrics in the center.  The lyrics serve as a memorial to the loved ones that I have lost and the wings and lyrics(multi-purpose) are for my favorite band.  I love my tattoo to pieces and am already considering my second one, which will be on my ankle.

Now- to the yay or ney part-- tattoos are a personal decision that shouldn't be made lightly.

If she has a really low pain tolerance, my suggestion is to start small, mine was WAY too big to start.
Also, she needs to get her hands on some form of a pain killer, but it can't be aspirin because it thins the blood.
Without a pain killer, she has a higher potential to get shingles(I did), and if not taken care of properly, it can become a MRSA infection.
Mine did and resulted in a week long hospital stay, 2 bedside procedures, and a surgery to remove the infection.

MRSA- An antibiotic resistant disease, if left untreated, MRSA is deadly.

Find the BEST and CLEANEST place for a tattoo- not the cheapest.

they are disgusting. my nephew has them on his legs and arms. it's like graffiti on a building. ....offensive. also, the business is just set up for profit. there is no real purpose....same with those piercings of the tongue and all ......sure risky of infection.

wow...today I saw someone with tattoos that kind of shocked me because they were all over his face.  I'm not sure if this is the latest thing to do now or what but for someone to go and tattoo up their face just seems like a sad thing.  It wasn't like he had bad skin or something that he was trying to cover up, he just had multiple tattoos put all over his face.    :sad1:
