It costs way to much to live and it also costs way too much to die. We have to live within our means I guess, but these days, how much more can we cut back?

no your not, just make a commitment to start saving a little bit out of each paycheck and don't spend it.  I don't believe that medicare and social security are going to end.  but even if you have those, you need to have more to supplement your income.
That's why I'm online every day.

I agree, its hard to save with car insurance, the price of gas and if you're in college like me, the price of books. But fusion cash is useful, I use it to pay my cellphone bill.

ITS HARD MAKING A LIVING WITH JUST ENOUGH PAY TO PAY BILLS ! CANT SAVE UP ANYTHING AND UNTIL THIS ECONOMY CHANGES I THINK I WILL STRUGGLE BAD WHEN I GROW OLDER .

This is such a true statement - the majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.  Mainly because if your income is $1000 a month, you accumulate bills for $1000 a month; if you income is $5000 a month, you accumulate bills for $5000 a month.

It is time Americans stop spending every penny we earn.  (NOTE- I am just as guilty)  Cut your monthly bills in half and put some money in a DO NOT TOUCH savings account.  That is my financial goal for the next year - cutting bills and acquiring savings.

It is very hard to save, but me and my husband set up a joint savings account to put a little bit of money in each month. We haven't touched it in about 2 1/2 years and it really adds up. Some months may be bad with only adding $10, but every little bit helps. Hopefully I'll find a job soon and we can contribute more to help us out later. This isn't really going towards out retirement, but for whenever we have kids one day. We will set up another account towards retirement as our careers progress. Still, it is very important to start saving young.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but at my age it's easy to see looking back on not only my life, but many others, that depriving yourself of the fun things in life to save for the future is not always the best choice. There are so many potholes in that road it's almost impossible to accomplish and even if you do, you might never make it to the time when you can enjoy it. If you are going to engage a discipline to enhance your future years, pick one that won't take away from today.

In my case I chose to buy real estate. Not only my home and a vacation property, but a building to conduct my business in as well. As you can imagine, as the years progressed my CURRENT life was enhanced and as values increased my burden was reduced, then in my retirement years I cashed in without EVER having to take money from my current budget to save. If I hadn't purchased those properties, I would have spent even more over the years.

The business property was the most valuable looking back. I made the purchase individually and leased it to my business. That way the business made all the payments to make it free and clear to me, then I sold it and carried a contract that pays me every month for 20 years. In fact the first sale went to foreclosure after 5 years of income and I just sold it again for another 20 years of income.

I have never been able to save more than a month or two worth of income before something throws a wrench in the works, but what I did worked for years and now I can enjoy the benefits for many years to come. Even if I would have been able to save cash from my income, it wouldn't be worth one tenth as much as when I spent it and I have had a lot more fun doing it. (Don't even bring up the Stock Market to me!)

I know this won't fit everyone without them thinking outside the box, but it is definitely worth thinking about.

I tried saving money and buy a home while I was young, all it got me was a husband who lost my two cars my house and my job working at a hospital.  We are still married but have been septerated for about 6 years now. I can't afford to even get a divorce and now I have not job not car so save for what, I am going to enjoy my child that is still at home while I can and worry about the rest later.  I only have another 6 years left with him and I am not going to keep struggling inorder for me to get school close and shoes for my son.  I want to be happy and cheerful and not be away from home trying to have something when I am old if all I have is social security retirement I will make do my sister does so why can't I.
