Paper plates are good for somethings but not so good if you have to cut the food. or if it is real hot.

I like using paper plates so there is not so many dishes to wash, beings no one likes doing dishes.  I hate doing dishes I would rather throw it away.  The only time I don't like using paper plates is with spegttie and stuff like that.

Quite the conundrum.  If you don't use dishes then you have trash which is adding to landfills.  I have a dishwasher and have still used paper plates every now and then for company or other reasons.  If you use paper plates you have to think about the trees cut down unless it's recycled material.  Some disposable plates are less biodegradable.  Perhaps I'm over analyzing this.  Do whatever you want, the earth will be uninhabitable in 200 years anyway.

unless you're feeding a large group say at a family holiday or something like that then to me using paper plates on a regular basis is a waste of money and does nothing but add to the landfills. i have 12 people here and we rarely usaper plates. it's not that hard to wash a few dishes.

I cook, so I have dishes anyway.  5 plates doesn't add that much.  Actually, the are one of the easiest things to watch.

I know what you mean!!!!  :angry7: I came up with a solution with that problem a couple of years ago, since I STILL don't have a dishwasher.
What I do is I clean the dishes one at a time. After each meal, or even if I just dirty up a cup or one fork or spoon, I go ahead and wash it, this way, the dishes never pile up and by the end of the day I don't have as much to do. What you can do is also is fill a small bowl with some dish detergent with hot soapy water, that way when you do the dishes you don't have to fill up your sink and waste a lot of dish soap. This works for me every time!! Hope this helps you some.

I just started doing this right now. So paper plates or dishes? I'm living alone now but I hate to wash dishes so I use paper plates all of the time, so what if it is hot underneth are you going to stand and hold your plate while it burns your hand? No you're going to set it on a table so you can eat and not hold it.

I like using paper plates when i have people over cos no one will wait behind to help me with the dishes. I am trying to get my husband used to it as he never does the dishes on time.

bad idea. me and my bf did that, and we just kept spending money on paper plates and garbage bags.

Paper plates do come in handy!  Less mess, less cleaning, less washing.  However, it can become costly, just depending on the amount used.  However, I must say, I do use them quite frequently!

I don't care for paper plates but I do like the foam plates.  I have those paper plate holders but its not the same.  I hate doing dishes though especial silverware and pots and pans.  It seems they take forever. I really don't eat much at home because I work from 7am to 3pm or longer, so I pretty much just sleep until my day off than I go out and sometimes I cook dinner for my girlfriend and I have to use regular plates than.

You might cut down on dishes but you'll just increase trash and spend more money. Paper plates are functional for outdoor things but not every day use.

I'm too cheap to buy paper plates. So washing dishes is for me. I actually enjoy washing dishes.
