I also do my hair at home because I do not like hair dryers and curling irons. I look for special hair chemicals that do not damage my hair.

Neither one.  I go to a barber shop... usually in Thailand.  I get my hair washed, head massaged, hair cut, then rinsed and styled by a nice Thai lady for 100 Thai Baht, which is $3...

For as long as I can remember, I've handled my hair issues myself. Except for when I was a kid, then someone else (usually my mom) did it for me. I have only been to a salon maybe a handful of times that I can remember. It can be a pain in the butt trying to deal with it myself, but at least if I mess it up it's my own fault. Plus, I save much more money doing at home.

I color my hair myself and if I want a perm I have my sister do it.  I can't afford to have a done somewhere. Now when I was a teenager or early tweenties I went to salon but I prefer to color my hair myslef and I my sister does my perm the way I want it. It to exspensive these days to have luxory items these days.
I try to save any where I can, you never know what will come up and you need the money for some  thing important.

Salon is too expensive, so unless its a really special occasion, I do my own hair at home.

My hair grows so fast and is really thick, so it's usually easier for me to go to the salon to get my hair done. The salon I go to have these hair conditioning treatments for not too much money and my hair feels and looks so much better afterwards.

i always dye my hair on my own and have been
doing so since my teens. you can't beat $7
and the awesome conditioner it comes with...

i trim my own bangs and usually shape the ends
myself, but i go to a salon (actually a hair school,
which is super cheap!) to get my haircut once
every few months.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I cut my own hair there is not much there so I just do it.  I did dye my hair about two months ago and I am a blonde and when i dyed it, it was almost purple I even did my eye brows and mustach, and beared.  I was just being crazy and it still in but looks more like auburn than purple now.  Thank god!

I used to cut my hair myself. Then I realized it wasn't worth the stress trying to even it out and stuff and I'd rather just go to Cost Cutters and pay $12 for a cut. Now they do hilights and stuff there too and it is a lot less expensive than the salon I used to go to.
