1 Corinthians 1
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—  God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.  He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank you for that.  A definite encouragement to those who need it.

Since you don't believe in a god ...

Any superstition-based nonsense you spout would be and is, irrelevant.

No it's not - you are the one spouting against those who believe in God.

A few non-xtians here have been "spouting" logical reasoning in teh face of xtian non-reasoning and irrationality in having an empty, faith-based belief, (sans tangible evidence of the existence of what they supposedly believe in).  The glaring difference in the "spouting" should be as  obvious as the difference between rationality and irrationality is to those able to reason logically.  No wonder you continue to miss it.

And you, sir, are devoid of understand and compassion, along with respect and tolerance, to anyone who refuses to see things as you see them, when it comes to religion and God.  You, sir, can keep your choice to yourself - I want no part of your way.  I am a Christian, believe in Jesus Christ, and study God's Word, memorize His Word, attend church, share music, direct Children's Choirs and Handbell Choirs, and love living my life in the Lord and being an instrument of Him within church and without church, with helping others, praying for others, and more.

I will gladly keep my way of living, no matter what you think about it, say about it, or try to infer about it.  The Constitution protects both of our views, and instead of trying to degrade Christians, you should be thankful you have your right to no religion.  I'm thankful I have my right to worship Christ, whether you approve of it, like it, or pitch a fit because you think I'm irrational or delusional.  I do not care what you think and you can take it or leave it.  Have a great night.

The inherently-biased 'opinion' of a faith-blinded xtian fundie carries as much weight as a neutrino.

The Constitution protects both of our views ...

Yes, it does however, it is FC's posting policies which affect posting on these forums and not the U.S. or Canadian constitutions.

Someone should let Greeley, (or those who quote him), know that his assertion is entirely false.  Not only does religious belief "enslave" the minds of 'believers' to blind faith but, the mythological source, ('biblical'), contains the "groundwork" for such enslavement, (not "freedom").

"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and
evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that
takes religion."

Philippians 3:13-14
King James Version

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Hope everyone is having a nice day.  :)

"Religion is based ... mainly upon fear ... fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat, fear of death. Fear is the
parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand . . . . My own view
on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the
human race."
-- Bertrand Russell

Perhaps Bertrand Russell based religion on "fear..."  I don't experience that same "fear" he is speaking of.  I also don't worship or follow "religion."  I follow my Lord.

Christians, other faiths, and dis-believers, all experience some type of fear, whether of the unknown, death, how to manage finances when experiencing a job loss, etc., which is a natural part of a human's life and handling of things.

As for the cruelty and religion going hand in hand, there were times, in the past, yes, that people, in the name of religion, went too far.  Example:  Indians (Native Americans) should never have had their beliefs, thoughts, ways, traditions, etc., wiped out just because certain people thought they needed God, and so had to change their whole way of life.  It's a shame many went either too far, or let their personal vendetta or opinions, interfere to the point of harming or trying to change others over to one way only.  In that, I agree.

No, xtianity admonishes xtians, (and, pretentiously, non-xtians), to "fear" that same "lord".

Yes, non-religious people can and do experience fears however, it is neither necessary nor beneficial to pile superstitious religious fears on top of mundane ones.

The native americans weren't the only ones to suffer under xtian pograms, inquistions, crusades, witch hunts and assimulations of numerous pagan cultural beliefs.
