"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

If this was an attempt to account for the rejection of the "sound doctrine" of reasoning and the embracing of blind religious faith instead, that's certainly a non sequitur.

What qualities; critical thinking and reasoning skills?  Yep, I can see how those would impede religious blind faith, (and why so many 'believers' eschew these "qualities").

2 Peter 1:3-10

3 "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."  (NIV)

The major drawback of that hypocritical platitude is that xtians judge, as does anyone who discerns one thing fro another.

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged."

"If you take [a copy of] the xtian bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our 'bible' IS the wind and the rain."
-- from Herbalist Carol McGrath, as told to her by a Native American woman

People judge, whether Christian, dis-believers, or those of other faiths.  People are human and make mistakes, as well.  People also have compassion for others, respect and disrespect others, encourage and support others, and live their lives how they want.  People kill, don't kill, love, hate, mock, praise, exercise or don't exercise, drink or don't drink, diet or don't diet, read or don't read, watch tv, write letters, pay bills, visit with family and friends, work or not work, and so on.

The point is, is that anyone and/or everyone does these things, no matter where they are in life, and no matter how they choose to live their lives, whether believers or not believers.

The point is that people do judge, in spite of the biblical injunction you quoted.  The difference between non-believers and believers in that instance is that believers are hypocrits when they do and non-believers are not bound by such religious prohibitions, (and therefore, aren't hypocrits).

I don't know where you get off with that explanation.  You cannot put believers up on a pedestal - they are as real and human as anyone else.  Anyone can be a hypocrite, whether believer or non-believer. No one is perfect.  You cannot put non-believers on a pedestal either.  They are just as bound to making wise choices in their lives as believers are.  There will come the day of Judgement where everyone, believers or not, will be held accountable for the choices they made in life.

I don't know where you get off with that explanation.

It came from your direct quotes; beginning with your 'biblical' one. "People judge, whether Christian, dis-believers, or those of other faiths." That was followed by your contention that
"People judge, whether Christian, dis-believers, or those of other faiths."

You cannot put believers up on a pedestal - they are as real and human as anyone else.

I can assure you, (and back that up with quoted evidence), that I don't put the up on pedestals.

Anyone can be a hypocrite, whether believer or non-believer. No one is perfect.

The point remains that xtian injuctions against judging made by judgemental xtians is hypocritical.

You cannot put non-believers on a pedestal either.

I'm not.  To reiterate what I did write; non-believers are not hypocritical in the context of judging because they have no religious injunction against it to be hypocritical about.

There will come the day of Judgement where everyone, believers or not, will be held accountable for the choices they made in life.

That's merely a specious religious belief which has no substantive basis and cannot be applied to non-believers unless out of sheer hubris/religious conceit.  I reject your specious religious beliefs on the basis of their irrationality and the pretentious attempt to apply them to others as self-righteous road apples.

You are free to reject - it's your decision.  Everyone makes their own decisions and will receive accordingly.

Although I don't need to be told that my choice is my choice, there's no evidence that anything of religious consequence will be 'received' according to those choices which reject speciously-baseless religions.

You are free to reject - it's your decision.  Everyone makes their own decisions and will receive accordingly.
