sorry, straying off topic...can't help myself...

  hello there falcon9!!

Hi, 'Shadow of Sheryl's'.  Although I couldn't find any correlative biblical reference, it may be that the OP wanted to contribute an "inspirational quote" in much the same way as my counter-quotes are non-biblical.

Well...if FC would let us change our usernames, I would change mine.  I hadn't realized at the time of signing up to FC how a username at the time might seem "cute" but could later become painful.  (My "Shadow" was my dog "Shadow" that died Aug. 16,2011.)  Though it seems like it's been 20 years, she's missed so much every day.  Life was so much better with her IN it.  But, that's how it goes...

Anyway back-on-topic, if someone is going to post "a daily Bible verse", it would be nice if they listed their source.  Otherwise it looks like things are randomly posted as if they were Biblical when they aren't.

Although the 'nym may remind you of your dog, a "shadow" has other meanings - from the mundane to the more esoteric, (the Aegyptian "khabit" is roughly-translated as 'shadow' but, carried more subtle meaning for instance).

Sometimes people will mistakenly conflate non-biblical quotes with biblical ones due to the prevalence of prior cultural thefts.  Nevertheless, a quote such as, “As you teach, you learn” is a Jewish proverb but, not in the Talmud or latter xtian biblical varieties, (not to mention the fact the the hebrews lifted this one from a previous culture).

My Shadow actually chose her own name, it was a toss-up between "Feather" (for the white looking "feather" mark on her nose), "Prozac" (which my sister said that SHE needed after an overnighter of dog-sitting her) or "Target" (my brother's idea, he likes to hunt and thought he was funny).  Shadow was/is a too-common pet name, but it's the only one she would respond to.  Later, I regretted not naming her "Chatty Patty" because she was talking all the time---could NOT shut her up. (miss that so much... :dog:)

Also, sometimes people hear things in passing that someone else may have led them to believe was in the Bible when it actually isn't.  It gets passed along from person to person and noone bothers to look it up, they just assume because someone told them it's in there...that it's in there.  I hear/see stuff all the time that others say is in there, but it actually isn't.  It's kind of funny sometimes...

Precisely; that's how many misattributions get started.  Curiously though, there are many "verses" which used to be in various translations which no longer are, (some of the Dead Sea Scrolls verify these omissions and others stem from the latter 'editing' done by the Council of Nicea).  Regardless, it is 'odd' that so many religious adherents are apt to try inaccurately attributing certain things to biblical sources while disrespecting the actual sources by co-opting them, (even in ignorance).

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed —a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Romans 1:16-17
“The righteous will live by faith.”

Which means that those who do so are living according to superstitious beliefs which lack evidentiary basis.  That means they are self-righteously self-deluded and blinded by their own inability to realize this.

"Accept and expect positive things and that is what you will receive."

Chapter, verse, translation??? :dontknow:

It's the quote for the day on the cash email.  :)

It's still not a "biblical  verse" nor a counterpoint, which was her point within the context of this thread's subject title.

Jude 17-21

But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Sheryl, thats a big part of whats wrong with Christendom. They claim to teach the bible but they teach satanic and mens doctrines. And what happens when some see the lies and the BS.....the creator gets blamed.

You see many times in the bible how Jesus spoke of the falsehoods they taught.

Think about this...what right does man have in deciding how to obey or serve his creator. It would be like a piece of clay saying."no mold me into this"

"To know a person's religion we need not listen to his profession of 'faith' but, must find his brand of intolerance."

You see many times in the bible how Jesus spoke of the falsehoods they taught.

From where does such an assumption arise; the hearsay of the "bible" which ironically imputes falsehoods to others while wallowing in them at the same time?  It's hypocrisy like that which invalidates 'biblical' source-references.

Think about this...what right does man have in deciding how to obey or serve his creator. It would be like a piece of clay saying."no mold me into this"

Conversely, consider how such a false parallel is based upon a false premise, (one based upon a religious belief, sans fact, assuming a "creator" - which is not an unchallenged a priori premise.

Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV)

"44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

"45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
