John 10:14-18

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Congratulations on further words of nonsense.

It's plainly obvious that you're not nearly intelligent enough to understand the irony of a statement like, "I know my sheep and my sheep know me," especially when it relates to christian beliefs.  Should I understand that you and your sheep are approximately equivalent in intelligence?

As long as you keep posting, you'll be keeping me amused and entertained, thanks for that.

(Incidentally, your 6 smileys are entitled "notworthy," in your case, also a very appropriate choice.)

Evidence of such a religious assertion: none.  Evidence of a specious claim made: another one below.

no sparrow shall fall but that the Lord God takes notice.

"I suggest that the anthropomorphic g-d idea is not a harmless infirmity of human thought, but a very noxious fallacy, which is largely responsible for the calamities the world is at present enduring."

Right, we get it, the lord of the entire universe has no greater concerns than what's happening with sheep and sparrows.  We've got a few real problems down here on planet earth, how about taking care of some of those situations for these puny humans that you claim to love so much?

Well, what does that have to do with anything, the pledge of allegiance has nothing to do with our military service?  Here's the oath we swear every time we enlist or reenlist:

"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

We're allowed to swear or affirm because we don't all believe in some kind of specific god or religion, and some of us don't believe in any kind of god at all.  We're also allowed to omit the phrase, "so help me god."  Additionally, the god we might choose to swear to, if we so choose, can be any god of the multitude of religions on the planet, I've served with soldiers from a variety of religions.  I don't, however, recall ever having served with a "jehovah's witness."  Does that religion prohibit you from serving in the armed services of your country?

Loyalty to my country has nothing to do with my religious beliefs.  Don't forget, the Constitution of the United States also guarantees that particular freedom, the freedom of religious beliefs.

I wasn't the only one who omitted the "so help me g-d" part of the oath when I was active duty military.  I had the honor to serve to several different varieties of 'pagans'; including wiccans, setians and satanists, (of of which are recognised religions by the U.S. government and addendums to the Uniform Military regulations).

Loyalty to my country has nothing to do with my religious beliefs.  Don't forget, the Constitution of the United States also guarantees that particular freedom, the freedom of religious beliefs.

The more fundamentalist religious adherents seem to 'assume' that the U.S. is a "xtian" nation when it expressly is not, by Constitutional stipulations.  These stiupulations specifically do not promote one religion, (such as xtianity), over another.

So when you take this oath is your hand on the bible....like in a courtroom?

Also if you are familiar what Jesus said and did after Peter tried to defend him that should be your answer for a Xtian serving his country. He should remain neutral.

Also, what god do you serve if any?

Neither the military oath nor a courtroom oath require placing a hand on a 'bible'.  I've never done so and have both given depositions and been enlisted.
