i spent 3 years in the army when i got out i worked hard i got hurt on the job so now i'm collecting ssd[social security disabillity ] and now the people in washington are bickering worse then kids. i don't care about democrat or republic. because they can't pay their bills does that mean i can't mine?

You'll get your check.  Our government has enough money to pay the debt and get medicare, SSN, and military checks out and still keep most things running, and the president decides what agencies stay open and who gets paid.  They're using scare tactics which is pretty pathetic.

I don't think it matters what type of social security you get if this thing isn't resolved everyone who gets any kind of social security will be affected.  which is sad because that is all some people have to pay thier bills.  My daughter has been trying for disability for 10 years and she qualifies even medicaid says she is disabiled but she has not been approved so all that her and her husband live of of is his little social secicuity income SSi and she has been very upset about it.  They are also talking about cutting medicare and medicaid and her medications are exspesive she can't afford it.  I don't know about the government if we are in such debt why don't they cut there own pay becuse they already make in one year what I made my whole life, this includes the president.  There are  ways for them to cut back without taking from the poor and disabiled and elderly.  This just urks me.  The US is wasteful when it comes to money, food, and supplies.  I love that we have our freedom but at what cost the cost of the old and poor.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! What do you mean "they can not touch this"? They already have and to the tune of over $2.5 trillion! The Social Security Trust Fund, which has always been in place and accruing interest, is now filled with nothing but IOUs owed to Social Security by the Federal Government. But the government doesn't have $2.5 trillion to pay it back. Please, do some research on how things work in that 'house in D.C.' because you, like most, are under the illusion it is OUR money when it's not.

They will do what they think needs to be done to help them out to get to the top. I feel they need to cut their income in half and give it back to the ppl who work hard and try to do the right thing by working hard for social security than for them to keep getting raises

I'm a living proof that they can touch your social security money any day of the week. They cut me off from my social security benefits about 3 or 4 months ago. Then, they think they over paid me and expect me to pay back over $9,000. I had to fight them about that and somehow I won and I don't need to pay them back anything. So, don't go to bed and think you will continue to get your social security benefits if I was you. YOU MAY GET CUT OFF JUST LIKE ME.

It just sickens me that we the American people work hard for our money yet the government gets to decide what to do with ALL of OUR money.  Aren't things hard enough for us already?

  I am on disability i have not hear about there want be a checks in Aug. from social security. I think it wrong to cut out social security after people work for 20 to 30 years. I thank God for my check.

I too am on disability and I worked until I couldn't work anymore... I liked working but can't and I like my Social Security Check...
