FC disabled that function for everybody.  Too many problems, I guess.  Before my time and I've been here since 2007.

Exactly this reason.  It was used as a means to spam referral links.

Depending on how active a member is on the 'net, it may not be as hard as you think to contact him/her outside this forum.  You don't need private messaging here to do that.  Remember, Google is your friend.

This forum is a good way to interact with others, I have never seen a private way to send messages, not sure I would want to. I have found everyone on the forum to be very helpful and polite. FC has a Great Community!

Basically you cannot send Private message here. Private message are allow only for the Admins in FC to notify you with account alerts, monthly events invite, and or issue with your payment (which they would usually send you via your email) if your current email is invalid.

Though private messages are allow in other forums, but not here. In other words you don't have to do anything, and there's no sorts of quest, standard posts, membership status, or anything.

Or, you can just open up a thread. If that doesn't work, use oldbuddy's suggestions go to the search bar and type keywords such as "referrals" "how to get referrals" "referral bonus". You would have to read a whole lots of threads, and mostly out of topics to a different point from the specific answer you're looking for, but it'll do.
